Prayer for September 11

A picture overlooking a city skyscrape in downtown Philadelphia.

Father God, you are the one who knitted us so intricately in our mother’s womb. You are the One who knew our name before we were born. You are the One who knows the number of hairs on our head. You alone Father God, knows our beginning and our end here on earth. Lord, thank you for sending your son Jesus Christ to die for our sins so that when this life is over – for the believer we will be reconciled to you. Lord, thank you for the choice to live for you or to choose to turn a way. Lord, today we choose to believe, accept and receive you as our Lord and Savior. Lord, forgive us for the sins we have committed against you. Lord, we repent of our sins. Come into our lives so that although we are perishing we might truly live and have new life in you. Lord, thank you for living amongst us, for being our God, for allowing us to be your people and for being our Father. Father, many believers (your children) and nonbelievers are hurting. Lord, even in our pain we will trust you. Lord, even at the loss of words, we will cry out to you to comfort us. Lord, even though we are uncertain of the time and day our lives will end for ourselves and those we love, we know for certain your word and promises are true, and without a doubt that those who confess, believe and receive you will be joined together with You for all eternity. Lord, your word says blessed are those who mourn for they will be comforted (Matthew 5:4). Lord, comfort them.

Lord, we pray for our nation. Lord, today marks a significant day when the U.S., was impacted by a horrific attack. So much has changed since that day, but You have not. You are still God and You remain unchanged. Lord, thank you for being with the families who lost loved ones. Lord, help them to continue to heal. Lord, we pray that you disrupt any plot against our nation and restore peace in the world. Lord, help us to be better people in character, compassion, and love; and a God fearing nation that seeks to glorify and praise You with a sincere heart. Help us to help those in need. Lord, expenses are rising. Help each person’s financial situation to improve.

Lord, we pray for healing in marriages. Lord, improve communication, understanding, trust, and compassion in their relationship with You and each other. Lord, we pray for the singles and ask that you continue to give them discernment and wisdom. Lord, be their anchor and help them with all the things they manage on their own.

Lord, be with the unemployed and help them to gain employment. Help with interview skills, training, and behavioral characteristics. Lord, place them in roles that will glorify You and allow them to be a blessing to others.

Thank you for the new hope we have found only in you. Lord, keep leading us and directing our steps. Lord, when we get discouraged or find ourselves in tough situations help us to feel your presence and walk in alignment to your word.

Equip us for the journey ahead and ignite passion within us again. Continue to touch the sick and bring healing to them and this land. Lord, the world is all over the place – mentally, financially, emotionally, and physically. Help us to stick to the mission that You have called us to.

In the Mighty name of Jesus Christ, amen and amen.
