Good morning! Today we will continue our reading in Ephesians chapter four with Apostle Paul continuing with his response on the gifts that God gave the church and what takes place when those gifts are properly used by believers and the church.
Bible Verse – Ephesians 4:14-16 NLT
“14 Then we will no longer be immature like children. We won’t be tossed and blown about by every wind of new teaching. We will not be influenced when people try to trick us with lies so clever they sound like the truth. 15 Instead, we will speak the truth in love, growing in every way more and more like Christ, who is the head of his body, the church. 16 He makes the whole body fit together perfectly. As each part does its own special work, it helps the other parts grow, so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love.”
Reflection
As the body of Christ grows in the church, matures in the faith, and in the unblemished Word of God, believers will continue to unite in the church and throughout the world. They will honor the Word, teach it, live it out, and stand in truth. Truthing will be their natural language and they will quickly identify untruths, clever deception, and trickery. The call to the church is to use the spiritual gifts that God has given us and the church to the fullness of the gifts that He has given us. When each body uses its full capability the church will grow to its fullness and likeness of Christ.
Are you ready to use the gifts God has given you to the fullness?
Sisters and brothers, let us do our part as the body of Christ. Let us take responsibility for our spiritual growth and tap into resources that teach the truth of God’s word (e.g., reading the Bible, attending Bible study, listening to a Christian podcast or church online). Let us not only acknowledge the word, but let us grow in it, and put it into action in our daily lives.
Prayer
Father God, we thank you for all that you have done in our lives. We thank you for the spiritual gifts that you have given us. We are thankful for the spiritual gifts that you have given to the church. Lord, give us the capacity, courage, and opportunity to use our spiritual gifts wherever you place us. Let our lives be filled with love for our sisters and brothers in the faith, and have a heart like yours to minister to those who are nonbelievers or have fallen away. Continue to break our hearts for the things that break yours.
Lord, equip us with your peace, patience and perseverance as we go through this day. Help us to lead with compassion and in the strength that only you can provide. Lord, work within us to continue to transform our thinking to align with yours. Lord, transform our homes to be aligned with the love, care, protection, and peace that you give. Lord, where there is sin and temptation in our lives remove the desire for it. Lord, continue to transform marriages and heal all the broken and misunderstood parts. Lord, be with the singles and give them the peace and transformation they need, and help them when they are lonely to lean on you. Lord, continue to watch over the young children, young adults, and the widows. Lord, protect, provide for their every need, and help them to feel safe and loved.
Lord, go before us today as we go to work, school, or wherever this day leads. Lord, give us favor in our tasks and with those we encounter. Cover us with wisdom and discernment as we walk in faith today. Continue to be with our nation as new leaders emerge and are set into position to lead. Lord, help them to align themselves to your word and live it out in their daily tasks. In Jesus’ name, amen.
