Good morning! Today, we will continue to read the book of James. James continues his letter to the scattered Christians/believers of the 12 tribes with a reminder of eternal hope.
Bible Verse – James 1:9-11
“9 Believers who are[b] poor have something to boast about, for God has honored them. 10 And those who are rich should boast that God has humbled them. They will fade away like a little flower in the field. 11 The hot sun rises and the grass withers; the little flower droops and falls, and its beauty fades away. In the same way, the rich will fade away with all of their achievements.”
Reflection
God does not limit the kingdom to the rich or the poor. Both have to humble themselves to believe in Christ Jesus.
John 1:12-13 reads, “But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God. They are reborn—not with a physical birth resulting from human passion or plan, but a birth that comes from God.”
It is the eternal advantages that allow the rich to understand they are fragile and the poor to recognize their value in the eyes of God and the Kingdom of God. A person’s earthly status will not guarantee or deny them a place in the kingdom, but there is nothing on earth – money, fame, politics, or status that will last.
God’s ability to give us wisdom also allows us to understand our own limitations in this world and see heaven (eternal life) through His eyes. It’s our hope in eternal glory that we receive in Christ Jesus that keeps us. Hope in Jesus and eternal life is the evidence of believing faith.
Our time on this earth is temporary. It is not our forever home. While we are here continue in hope. Keep believing and living your life for Christ. Share with others the eternal life ahead and the beauty of being an example of Christ here on earth.
Prayer
Father God, we thank you for the hope that we have in Christ Jesus. We thank you for the evidence of faith and the blessing ahead of an eternal life. Lord, thank you for giving us wisdom to understand your greater plan.
Lord, as we go throughout this day and the weekend speak to our hearts and our minds. Pour into us your love and demonstrate how you desire for us to love others. Lord, continue to strengthen our faith, comfort our heart during trials, and give us staying power. Lord, when we attempt to push you aside or forget about our relationship with you, recall to our memory your faithfulness, your promises, your provision, and your love.
Lord, continue to heal the woman recovering from surgery, the woman with the blood infection, the man recovering from surgery, the woman with the autoimmune disease, the women and men battling cancer, the brokenhearted, and those who are grieving. May your mighty power be felt by each of them today. May they know that it is was you who heard their/our prayers and give you the glory.
Thank you! In Jesus name, amen!
