Good morning! Today we will continue our reading in Ephesians chapter four. These verses continue with Apostle Paul writing about unity in the body (the church – all believers).
Bible Verse – Ephesians 4:4-6 NLT
“4 For there is one body and one Spirit, just as you have been called to one glorious hope for the future.
5 There is one Lord, one faith, one baptism, 6 one God and Father of all,
who is over all, in all, and living through all.”
Reflection
In these verses Apostle Paul writes the seven elements of unity of the body of believers.
- One body – all believers / the church
- One Spirit – the Holy Spirit who dwells on the church
- As believers we all have one common hope. Which is our future with God because of the salvation we received when we believed and accepted Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior.
- One Lord – Christ the head of the church.
- One Faith – the faith that all Christians have in Christ their Lord.
- One Baptism – a single act by believers that demonstrates spiritual unity.
Accordingly, these all should exist in the body of believers.
Prayer
Father God, we thank you for the love you have shown and given to us. We thank you that it’s not just a word, but you have demonstrated it time and time again through action. Lord, thank you.
Lord, help us to live out your word in our lives. Help the church – body of believers to live in unity across this nation and world. Let the truth of Your word live in our hearts and minds, and be demonstrated in our conversations and actions. Lord, help us to keep you first in our lives, and may our relationship with you improve our relationships with others.
Lord, be with each person who is weighed down with pressure from choices and decisions they need to make. Lord, give them wisdom and discernment to follow after you. Help them and strengthen them as they go through this season. Lord, may the pressure that is applied be for your glory and that they mature, grow, learn, and come out better on the other side. Lord, if the pressure, anxiety, stress, or struggle is not of you we ask that you remove that spirit and situation, and quickly turn things around.
Lord, we pray for covering and protection of our children, grandchildren, children in our care, and those around the world. We ask for you to keep them safe wherever they are. Rescue those who have been abused or abducted. Place them in the care of those who will treat them kindly and care for them with compassion.
Lord, continue to work in our nation and during this time of voting. Lord, we pray for your will to be done. Lord, we also pray for the safety of each voter as they go to and from voting polls. Lord, we pray for each vote to be counted and for Satan’s plans to be disrupted. Lord, help this nation and other nations to come together. Help place leaders in place who will take care of the people/nation they have been entrusted to care for.
Lord, be with us today as we seek to follow you in our homes, jobs, and wherever we go. Keep working in us. In Jesus’ name, amen.
