Good morning! I’m back from my work trip and ready to dive into Ephesians chapter 4. Please join me as we continue our reading.
Bible Verse – Ephesians 4:1 NLT
“Therefore I, a prisoner for serving the Lord, beg you to lead a life worthy of your calling, for you have been called by God.”
Reflection
Ephesians chapter four is rich with guidance from Apostle Paul. We will take our time walking through the first six verses to explore with intent.
In this first verse Apostle Paul reminds us that he is a prisoner of the Lord. That God’s desire for both Jews and Gentiles to be united through mutual love for Christ is also his desire. He called them to now walk in unity of the body – calling all believers to walk (live) in their spiritual gifts/calling. Apostle Paul encouraged them to not only walk/live out their calling but to also reflect it equally in their daily conduct.
In other words, believers their/our salvation and union as one body should be reflected in our personal lives and our responsibility to other believers in the church and throughout the world.
Sisters and brothers, let us continue to consider these words as we go throughout this day. Let our daily conduct and our calling be lived out today and for the rest of our lives – maturing in our faith and love for one another.
Prayer
Father God, we thank you for the life that you have blessed us with. Forgive us for the times when we have failed to love as you love or live according to our calling. Lord, help us to recognize when our heart is out of alignment with what you ask of us. Lord, continue to mature us so that we grow in the fullness of our calling and care for other believers, but also as we use our spiritual gifts to be your hands and feet in this world.
Lord, you know every area within our lives, hearts, and minds that need pruning and care by You. Lord, keep working on those areas of our lives so that we can bear good fruit in this world. Lord, we want our spiritual fruit to be so beautiful and tasty that people will gravitate to us because they see you in us. Lord, keep working on us.
Lord, thank you for your favor and grace upon me while I traveled this month. You were so gracious and kind. Lord, we pray for each person I encountered along the way and we ask for safe travels, for their families that are moving apart, those struggling with where to start with change at work, those seeking employment, those starting new jobs, those in new stages of their marriages/singleness, those who are sick and in need of healing, those substituting devices/addiction in place of You, those struggling with economic conditions, and those simply in need of You and salvation. Lord, we pray for the mom who had a stroke and we pray for her healing. We pray for the family members who are caring for her and we ask for you to strengthen them and bring alongside the necessary medical support and treatments.
Lord, as we return to the office, school, etc., help us to feel Your presence, peace, provision, protection, and power. Help us to remain steadfast and fully equipped to stand against the evil schemes/plots of the enemy. Place Your armor on us. In Jesus name we pray, amen.
