Good morning! We will continue our reading as James continues to remind the 12 tribes/believers that were scattered and us to resist temptation. We read about the source of temptation and the steps in temptation, but today we will read James insight on the solution of temptation. Join me as continue James chapter one.
Bible Verse – James 1:16-18 NLT
“16 So don’t be misled, my dear brothers and sisters. 17 Whatever is good and perfect is a gift coming down to us from God our Father, who created all the lights in the heavens.[d] He never changes or casts a shifting shadow.[e] 18 He chose to give birth to us by giving us his true word. And we, out of all creation, became his prized possession.[f]”
Reflection
James reminds us not to be misled by the temptation of sin that leads to death, but to embrace the new life that we have in Christ Jesus.
Sisters and brothers, God who is the creator of everything in the universe saw fit to make available to us salvation and life through Christ Jesus. God’s love for us is unchanging. He truly loves.
In today’s verses, James wanted to make that clear and note that the only solution for temptation is found in a close relationship with God and obedience to His word. In this way, believers will constantly respond to the truth of God’s word, yield to temptation, resist Satan’s attempts to tempt, and continue to grow in spiritual maturity.
Sisters and brothers, lets continue to grow in faith and spiritual maturity.
Prayer
Father God, thank you for another day to serve you and draw closer to you. Lord, thank you for the wisdom that you give us each day. Thank you for your Holy Spirit that guides and directs us, and warns us of Satan’s attempts to distract us and pull us into sin. Lord, your word never fails us nor do you. Lord, continue to work in us so that when we are tempted we will stand firm on your word and not be lead astray. Lord, forgive us for the times when we were weak and/or rebellious against you (knowingly and unknowingly).
Lord, we continue our prayers for the women who are recovering in the hospital from illnesses and injuries. Lord, heal their bodies and give them the strength they need as they prepare to go home. Lord, continue to heal those battling medical conditions and ease their pain. Lord, continue your work in the church and in our communities. Lord, help us to feel your presence as we go out into the world today. Lord, use our hands, feet, and speech/mouths for your glory.
Lord, be with every child as they prepare to start school this month. Lord, put your hands upon them and protect them. Lord, assign the students to good teachers and good classroom environments. Lord, help them to find good peers and friends who will encourage them in a positive way this school year. In Jesus name, amen.
