Good morning! I hope you are doing well. Today we are continuing in Acts 13. We are reading the encouraging words Paul spoke to the Jews and God-fearing Gentiles in the synagogue. Last week we read on Jesus coming from the line of King David and John the Baptist calling out to the people of Isreal to repent, turn to God and be baptized. Join me today as Paul ties the scriptures about the coming Messiah to Jesus Christ. Enjoy today’s devotion.
Bible verse
“26 “Brothers—you sons of Abraham, and also you God-fearing Gentiles—this message of salvation has been sent to us! 27 The people in Jerusalem and their leaders did not recognize Jesus as the one the prophets had spoken about. Instead, they condemned him, and in doing this they fulfilled the prophets’ words that are read every Sabbath. 28 They found no legal reason to execute him, but they asked Pilate to have him killed anyway.
29 “When they had done all that the prophecies said about him, they took him down from the cross[g] and placed him in a tomb. 30 But God raised him from the dead! 31 And over a period of many days he appeared to those who had gone with him from Galilee to Jerusalem. They are now his witnesses to the people of Israel.” – Acts 13:26-31 NLT
Reflection
Amen. The word of God in the Old Testament was fulfilled in and through Christ Jesus.
Sisters and brothers, this same message of salvation has been given to us. Because of God’s love for us, we have an opportunity to repent turn to God, believe in Christ Jesus, be forgiven of our sins and receive salvation. This is the great hope that we should all have…this is daily peace knowing no matter what comes our way, when it’s all said and done we have the love of Christ Jesus and eternal life.
Today, think on such things – Philippians 4:6-8 NLT
“6 Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. 7 Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. 8 And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. “
Prayer
Father God thank you for another day. Thank you for your amazing grace on our lives. Thank you for sharing your peace and for comforting our hearts. Lord, you know what we need before we even utter a word. Lord, you know where and when we fall short – but Your love still draws us near to you. Lord, You have 99 but you still come after the 1. Lord God, there is none that compare to you. Lord God, there are so many voices coming at us, but we want to hear yours louder than anyone else. Lord, be with us. Give us mental clarity and peace. Lord, renew our hearts and attune our ears to hear you speak to us. Lord God, suppress the enemies tactics and voice. Humble our haughty spirit so that Your Holy Spirit may reign over our lives, actions, and speech. Lord Jesus, you came to bring Good News to the poor. God the Father sent You to proclaim that captives will be released, that the blind will see, that the oppressed will be set free (Luke 4:18), today we believe Your word and why God sent you. Continue Your mighty work among us – in Jesus’ mighty name we pray. Amen.
