Good morning! Yesterday we read 2 Corinthians chapter 2, verses 5-8 on Paul’s instructions for the Corinthian church to forgive. Today, Paul continues to explain the importance of forgiveness. Join me as we read verses 9-11.
Bible Verse – 2 Corinthians 2:9-11 NLT
“9 I wrote to you as I did to test you and see if you would fully comply with my instructions. 10 When you forgive this man, I forgive him, too. And when I forgive whatever needs to be forgiven, I do so with Christ’s authority for your benefit, 11 so that Satan will not outsmart us. For we are familiar with his evil schemes.”
Reflection
Sisters and brothers, Satan is always looking for an open door where he can enter and disrupt peace in our lives. He will bring the list of offenses and count them off twice to ensure we remember the pain that we endured at the hand of someone else. But God, the One who calls you by name, the One who calls you His own, the One who gave His life for you and me, the One who redeems, and the One who makes us whole is the same One who breaks the chains of bondage and sets us free to trust Him so that we can lay aside unforgiveness and be at peace within our souls. Don’t let Satan hold you captive. He will try to keep you oppressed and depressed, but instead keep praying to the God who heals and restores. God didn’t create you to be held captive to unforgiveness, he created you for greater things – with Christ’s authority walk into this day with forgiveness in your heart and in deep prayer for those you need to forgive. Then watch God work.
Prayer
Father God, thank you for your forgiveness of our sins. Lord, thank you for ministering to us and our need to forgive whatever needs to be forgiven. Father God, you are all mighty and powerful, but you come to us and speak to us with perfect love and assurance that we can trust you and your ways. Lord, replenish us with your Holy Spirit, guide our speech and what flows from our mouth so that it will be pleasing to you. Lord, we pray for everyone who has unforgiveness in their hearts for one reason or another. Lord, we ask that you bring healing into their hearts and minds. Lord, only you know the depths of unforgiveness and why. So Lord, right now in the name of Jesus we lay down unforgiveness for ___________ and ask that you begin to purify our hearts and set us free from the bondage of unforgiveness.
Lord, we pray for people as we approach Mother’s Day. Lord, there will be joy for some, grief for others, and a need for forgiveness for some. Lord, you know each situation. You know every heart ache, and tear. Lord, comfort those who miss and grieve their mother. Lord, be with all the mom’s biological or stepping in and bless them with a wonderful Mother’s Day. Lord, give each mother strength and peace throughout the day and weekend. Lord, be with new mothers and help them to raise their children in the way they should go. Lord, we pray for the baby girl that born last night. Lord, cover her and her parents as they raise her and provide for her. Lord, give the parents wisdom, discernment, peace, and patience as they seek your guidance as they raise the gift that you gave them. Lord, be with each person as they travel. Lord, comfort the widow as she prepares to lay her husband to rest tomorrow. Lord, help her to feel your presence and comfort.
In Jesus name, amen.
Keep praying! Keep Trusting! Keep believing!
