Good morning! Last week we had the pleasure of reading about Jesus and John the Baptist. The highlights – John the Baptist “repent and be baptized” and Jesus’ confirmation to John the Baptist “the blind see, the lame walk, those with leprosy are cured, the deaf hear, the dead are raised to life and the Good News is being preached to the poor.” Awe…it was such a refreshing read. We will begin the week with Jesus’ message to non believers. Enjoy today’s devotion and your day!
BIBLE VERSE – Matthew 11:20-24 NLT
20 Then Jesus began to denounce the towns where he had done so many of his miracles, because they hadn’t repented of their sins and turned to God. 21 “What sorrow awaits you, Korazin and Bethsaida! For if the miracles I did in you had been done in wicked Tyre and Sidon, their people would have repented of their sins long ago, clothing themselves in burlap and throwing ashes on their heads to show their remorse. 22 I tell you, Tyre and Sidon will be better off on judgment day than you.
23 “And you people of Capernaum, will you be honored in heaven? No, you will go down to the place of the dead.[g] For if the miracles I did for you had been done in wicked Sodom, it would still be here today. 24 I tell you, even Sodom will be better off on judgment day than you.”
REFLECTION
Today, we can read this and say they were spiritually blind or hard-hearted and as a result they refused to believe the Good News. They refused to repent even after seeing miracle after miracle being performed.
Just a thought, do you think our own cities would be listed as being better off or worse?_________
Unfortunately, we still live in times where people hear the word, but it falls on ‘death ears’. We live in the days of miraculous healings and unexplainable phenomena, and yet people don’t believe or repent and accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.
What changed your heart or what did it take for you to accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior? _________
Let us continue to pray for our spouses, children, family, friends and neighbors who have turned away from the Lord or don’t believe or don’t know Him.
Who will you pray for? ___________
Please send an email or comment letting us know how we can pray for you or someone else at contactus@maryewhiteministries.com
PRAYER
Father God we thank you for sending your son Jesus Christ to save us. Thank you for the Good News. Thank you for forgiveness of sins. Father without your grace, love, forgiveness and mercy we would be destined to hell. Lord, thank you for loving us enough to send your Son. Lord, we certainly don’t deserve it, but we are so grateful you did. Lord, we pray for marriages, children, families, friends and neighbors who are struggling with their faith and trust in you. Lord, you can open the eyes of the blind and awaken the dead, will you open their eyes and awaken them spiritually to see and hear from you. Lord, will you soften our hearts to be consistently in prayer for the lost so that they may be found. Lord, equip us as we go out and share the Good News. Lord, touch our tongues so that your words will overflow from them. Lord, touch our feet and lead us where you want us to go. Lord, armor us up and protect us from the darts of the enemy. Lord, give us peace as we continue to live for you and serve you. Change us, Lord.
Lord, we lift up all the students who are graduating today. Lord, we ask that you place your hand on each one of them, and give them the opportunities they need for gainful employment, peace, and wisdom. Direct their steps and lead them as you draw them closer to you. Lord, be with the man who fell on Friday and was hospitalized. Lord, be with him as he goes through medical follow-ups and make him well and whole. Lord, we pray for the woman who is having her kidney removed on Wednesday and we ask that you touch the surgeon and medical professions. Guide them as they perform the surgery. Be with our sister as she prepares, goes through, and recovers from the surgery. Lord, we pray for the woman who is in the process of purchasing a home. Lord, let the offer be accepted and the purchase to go through in her favor. Lord, we continue to pray for those in chronic pain and ask that you relieve their pain. Cure them from the discomfort and agony that they feel each day. Relieve them from depression and give them the mobility that they need to move around. Lord, we pray for those struggling with anxiety and fear – remove those spirits, and let yours rise within those struggling. Give safe travels to those who are traveling today. Bless this day and us, Lord.
In Jesus name, we pray amen.
