The Right Words At The Right Time

Good morning! Don’t be discouraged by the task ahead. Stay focused on the Lord. Trust His plan for your life. And keep moving in your purpose. Enjoy today’s devotion.

BIBLE VERSE – Matthew 10:16-20 NLT
“16 Look, I am sending you out as sheep among wolves. So be as shrewd as snakes and harmless as doves. 17 But beware! For you will be handed over to the courts and will be flogged with whips in the synagogues. 18 You will stand trial before governors and kings because you are my followers. But this will be your opportunity to tell the rulers and other unbelievers about me. 19 When you are arrested, don’t worry about how to respond or what to say. God will give you the right words at the right time. 20 For it is not you who will be speaking—it will be the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.”

REFLECTION
If you have been reading the past few devotions, you will understand Jesus was in the midst of preparing the twelve disciples for the mission ahead – Go and announce to them (the people of Israel) that the Kingdom of Heaven is near. While Jesus had called them, He had also shared the trials that were ahead because they were followers of Christ – Christians.

Even after the disciples heard the warnings of the difficult task ahead, they remained in relationship with Jesus and followed him.

Sisters and brothers, Jesus is calling us today. He has given us assignments to complete, but sometimes we get distracted by the difficulties we face while on the mission. Refocus.

Be aware the Christian walk is not easy. There is division in the world and chaos continues to ensue our minds. But, we have a Savior who has defeated the enemy and the kingdom of darkness. Our Savior and Lord brings order to chaos, He’s alive and he changes lives everday.

Questions to ponder:

Will you tell unbelievers about our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ? __________

Will you continue to encourage your brothers and sisters in the faith? ___________

Will you do what He has called/purposed you to do? ___________

PRAYER
Father God, thank you for today. Thank you for giving us another day to worship you. Lord thank you for your love towards us. Lord, forgive us when we don’t walk according to your will. Lord, remove any doubt and fear that has held us back from fully experiencing the Father’s love and our purpose. Lord, align our will to yours. Lord, direct our steps and guide us to go wherever you send us. Lord equip us to be as shrewd as snakes and as harmless as a dove. Lord, send us out. Help us to proclaim the gospel message to all those who hear and see. Lord, we pray for the man whose wife passed away from cancer yesterday. Lord, comfort his heart and guide him as he leans on you. Lord, we lift up their young children and ask that you put a hedge of protection around them as they grow up without their mom. Strengthen their family and comfort them with your peace as they make arrangements. Lord, be with the family of the man who is on hospice. Continue to comfort them as they make arrangements and grieve. Lord, we pray for those seeking employment and we ask that you open doors of employment in good work environments. Lord, we thank you for everything you have done and we trust everything that you are about to do. Lord, we lift up my son-in-laws grandmother who is battling cancer. Lord, we pray for a release of the pain that she is enduring. Lord, help the physicians with her treatment. Comfort their family as they care for her. Lord, we also pray for the woman whose sister passed away. We pray for their family, and especially for sister’s daughter. Lord, comfort that daughter and help her through this time of grief and loss of her mother. Lord, continue to be with us all as we seek you in every situation of our lives. Help us not to live in fear or in despair. Help us to hold onto your truth and promises.

In Jesus name, amen.
