Get To Know Him

Good morning! Have you ever noticed someone that you recognized, but did not know them well or at all? Maybe it was a celebrity or an old classmate or both. Did you try to approach them hoping they would acknowledge or remember you? Today’s reading reminds me of a similar situation. Enjoy your day and today’s reading.

BIBLE VERSE – Matthew 7:21-23 NLT
“21 “Not everyone who calls out to me, ‘Lord! Lord!’ will enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Only those who actually do the will of my Father in heaven will enter. 22 On judgment day many will say to me, ‘Lord! Lord! We prophesied in your name and cast out demons in your name and performed many miracles in your name.’ 23 But I will reply, ‘I never knew you. Get away from me, you who break God’s laws.’”

REFLECTION

These verses continue on the subject we discussed over the past two days – narrow is the road to heaven. Jesus continued to teach on the heart and relationship  people had toward God, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. There were Pharisees/leaders and doers in the regions, but their hearts were far from God. They were busy getting their accolades and money, but they lacked a sincere relationship with God. The things that concerned God became lip service for them and not heart service aligned to God’s will for them and those they served. Today we might say, they call themselves Christians but their actions and words are far from it.

Sisters and brothers, it’s not too late to build a personal relationship with the Lord or rekindle your personal walk with Him. As we do things in our churches, for our families, the community, and at work/school let us remember to keep God first. Let us seek Him in all that we do. Let the Lord refocus our heart, transform our mind, and be the real mission/reason we serve Christ and others everyday.

PRAYER

Father God, thank you for being our help. Lord, thank you for your willingness to care for us. Thank you for sending your son Jesus Christ. Thank you for salvation. Lord, forgive us when we stray away from your word. Lord, forgive us when we don’t put you first. Lord, draw us closer to you. Direct our steps and align our will to yours. Lord, continue to be our anchor and guide. Cover us with your love and compassion. Lord, we want to do your will. Strengthen our faith and increase our trust in you. Lord, show us where you want us to go and what you want us to do.

Lord, we lift up every parent and ask that you give them the wisdom and guidance on how to raise their children in this world without becoming consumed by this world. Lord, help them to lead their homes and strengthen their families. Lord, hear and answer their prayers for their children. Lord, hear the mother’s prayer for her son who is going through a court case. Lord, may your favor continue and may it be well. Lord we pray for the children who have aged out of foster care and we ask for you to provide stability for them and a loving environment where they can excel. Lord, watch over all the students in school.  Lord, we pray for their safety.

Lord, help the unhoused, provide them food and shelter. Free those entangled in human trafficking and set them free. Lord, keep changing us from the inside out. Let our lives and our actions align with your will. In Jesus name, amen.
