Persist In Prayer

Photography by Mary E. White, in Muir Woods, California

Good morning! Today, as I looked over the past year and while some years seemed like it was one tragedy after the next, what I now see is the hand of God that kept me – mentally, emotionally, and physically. God is so good. He answered my prayers with a yes and others with a no, but He is still good. He is the perfect gift giver – merciful, generous, and thoughtful. You never know what to expect, but in the end it is always good when God is involved. His gift of love never disappoints. Enjoy today’s reading and your weekend.

BIBLE VERSE – Matthew 7:9-11 NLT
“9 “You parents—if your children ask for a loaf of bread, do you give them a stone instead?  10 Or if they ask for a fish, do you give them a snake? Of course not! 11 So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good gifts to those who ask him.”

REFLECTION
Our Heavenly Father loves us. He desires to give us the best. He encourages us to seek Him in prayer. He tells us to keep knocking and asking in prayer. He doesn’t turn away from us, but instead we are reminded that our Father gives good gifts. James 1:17-18 reads, “17 Whatever is good and perfect is a gift coming down to us from God our Father, who created all the lights in the heavens. He never changes or casts a shifting shadow. 18 He chose to give birth to us by giving us his true word. And we, out of all creation, became his prized possession.”

If we are His prized possession, how much more is he willing to do for us/those who He laid down His life for…?

If earthly fathers who are prone to sin give good gifts, certainly our Heavenly Father who is without sin willing to give us spiritual gifts and reward His children who persist in prayer.

Seek Him today. Ask Him. Keep Knocking.

PRAYER
Father God, you are great in all the earth. Lord, thank you for being a great Father. Lord, when I think about how good you are, I am overwhelmed by your grace and care for me – for all of us. Lord, thank you for your love toward all of us. Thank you for forgiving us of our sins. Lord, thank you for making away for us to be reconciled back to you. Lord, our hope is in you. Lord, we trust that as we ask, seek and knock in prayer that you will bend to hear us and answer our prayers.

Lord, we lift up women, men, and children across the world who are trapped in human trafficking. Lord, they need you to rescue them. Lord, will you rescue them. Lord, we lift up those who are unhoused, in shelters , temporary living situations, and those in dependent living facilities and ask for you to provide a stable home, employment, and food. Lord, release their minds to hear from you and see you at work in their lives.

Lord, we pray for school teachers and ask that you let their Christian faith shine through the classroom this year. Lord, we pray for protection over our children.

Lord, be a beacon and light the way to you. Lord, provide for our mental, financial, emotional and spiritual wellbeing. Lord, we pray for those suffering from natural disasters across the world. Lord, you know everything. Lord, continue to teach us how to search for you. Lord, teach us to use the gifts that you give us for your purpose and glory. In Jesus name, amen.
