Don’t Lie and Scheme to Get What You Want

Good morning! You are more valuable than the birds in the sky. You are more beautiful than the lilies in the field. The Lord loves you today and always. Put your faith in Him.

BIBLE VERSE – Matthew 6:28-30 NLT

“28 “And why worry about your clothing? Look at the lilies of the field and how they grow. They don’t work or make their clothing, 29 yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully as they are. 30 And if God cares so wonderfully for wildflowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, he will certainly care for you. Why do you have so little faith?”

REFLECTION
Here again, Jesus is asking more questions:

• And why worry about your clothing?

• Why do you have so little faith?

A few years ago, I found myself absent from prayer about a situation that had touched my life. I had struggled to pray for healing in that situation because I read several reports from medical research and seen actual results. The Lord spoke to me about that area of my faith. Over and over again, the voice said, not the doctors will, not the researchers will, not my will for other people, but focus on my will for you and this situation. The statement “is anything impossible for God” had been in my ear for two months. So, I remember how I humbly went into deep prayer, but that wasn’t enough to steady me to trust Him at his word for healing in that area. The Lord, continued to walk with and talk to me, and minister to me. These verses continued to replay in my heart:

• Luke 1:37 – “For nothing is impossible with God.”

• Luke 18:27 – “What is impossible for people is possible with God.”

For this particular situation, those verses revealed some of my doubts. But God can use anything to stand us on firm ground. I watched the movie Mission Possible and at the same time, I was concerned by that same illness and doubt. Just as I began to speak it out, the Lord began to minister to my heart and I began to ponder over the movie. No matter what took place, the character’s focus was always on the mission. Whatever seemed impossible was always made possible. After journaling and praying, this is what I walked away with:

• Seeking God is our mission.

• Trusting God is our task.

• Following his direction will get us the greatest reward.

• Trust Him with anything that seems possible or impossible.

• Watch Him work for the good of those who love Him.

Sisters and brothers, God was concerned that the Pharisees in their pursuit of material things lacked to live by faith. The examples of the birds and lilies were to teach them/us the importance of relying on God instead of worrying and being anxious, which does add a single hour to our lives. Trust God to supply your every need – don’t lie and scheme to get your needs met.

I don’t know what seems impossible for you today, but the Lord can make the impossible, possible. The song that has been on repeat in my playlist has a verse that repeats: If He dresses the lilies with beauty and splendor how much more does he love you?

The song is titled Jireh by Elevation Worship and Maverick City. If you get a chance to listen, please do: https://youtu.be/mC-zw0zCCtg

PRAYER
Father God, thank you for your love and care for us. Thank you for taking our burdens and setting us free. Lord, thank you for your fresh word every morning. Thank you for letting me share how you continue to work in my life. Lord, continue to work in the lives of these readers.

Lord, you know us and you know the things we worry about each day. Lord, today, help us to set our eyes on you and not worry about the things of tomorrow that will take away our joy and blessings today. Lord, cover us with your love and peace. Lord, be our shield, our shelter and our strong tower. Keep us strong and secure in your word and in your arms. Help us to trust you with all of our needs. Lord, continue to build up our faith and transform us so that we will have unshakable faith. In Jesus name, amen.
