They See You

Good morning! Adjusting is a part of life. We adjust our eyes to see. We adjust our clothes when they are too tight or too loose. We adjust our attitudes to the occasion (sometimes good or bad). We adjust to new jobs and people. We are constantly adjusting. While most people don’t notice you adjust your clothes, they definitely see adjustments in your attitude or behavior, whether it is bad or good – they see you. Today we will continue to read 1 Peter chapter 2. These verses cover behavior. Enjoy your reading.

Bible verse – 1 Peter 2:11-12 NLT
11 Dear friends, I warn you as “temporary residents and foreigners” to keep away from worldly desires that wage war against your very souls. 12 Be careful to live properly among your unbelieving neighbors. Then even if they accuse you of doing wrong, they will see your honorable behavior, and they will give honor to God when he judges the world.

Reflection
As God’s chosen, we know that our time here on earth is temporary and that our hope is in the day that Christ will return and call us home. However, while we are here there are temptations to be like the world – to blend in with the culture and satisfy our own desires, yet we are called to be set apart. As witnesses of the faith, people are watching/looking at our own obedience to the word of God. They are quick to judge, but even when they falsely accuse us, these verses explain that our behavior will speak for itself and they will in turn honor God.

Questions to ponder:

Sisters and brothers, what temptations or challenges are you struggling with today? _____________

Are you ready to make an adjustment and live the life we proclaim to live (e.g., adjust an attitude, behavior, lifestyle)? __________

Prayer
Father God, thank you for unveiling our eyes to see you at work in our lives and the world. Lord, thank you for this reminder that we have been changed and made a new in Christ. Lord, thank you for saving us and for the hope that we have in you. Lord, we ask in the mighty name of Jesus that you remove strongholds that keep us in bondage to the things of this world. Lord, cover us with your grace and mercy. Lord, continue to work in us so that we might be effective witnesses in the world. May our imperfect lives be made whole in you. May our weakness be made strong in you. Lord, as we go through today and the enemy attempts to prowl around and attack, help us to stand firm in our faith displaying your goodness and grace, and allowing for your justice to take place on our behalf. Lord, we lift up marriages to you today. Lord, protect them from the enemies plot to destroy them. Lord, we pray for the singles and widows, that you will strengthen them in every area and give them peace and build a stronger relationship with them. Lord, cover our children in this world. Lord, protect them from predators and those who desire to harm them. Lord, we continue to pray those who have lost loved ones, those facing stressful situations, those living in unsafe conditions and all who are in need of your saving grace. In Jesus name, amen.
