Disclaimer – This May Change Your Life

Good morning! Disclaimer – today’s reading may change your life.

Today’s reading was for me. I hope that as I share this with you, that the Lord will speak mightily into your heart and break any chains that inadvertently influence your life or actions in a manner that doesn’t please God. May the Lord’s words speak. Have a wonderful morning.

Bible verse – 1 Peter 2:1-3 NLT
“So get rid of all evil behavior. Be done with all deceit, hypocrisy, jealousy, and all unkind speech. Like newborn babies, you must crave pure spiritual milk so that you will grow into a full experience of salvation. Cry out for this nourishment, 3 now that you have had a taste of the Lord’s kindness.”

Reflection
Our new identity in Christ calls us to get rid of all evil behavior. Our behavior before we were Christians as described by John F. Walvoord included “five (5) sins of attitude and speech which if harbored would drive a wedge between believers.” Peter points out five sins in verse 2, but I also wanted to include Walvoord’s definition of those sins.

• Malice– wicked ill-will;

• Deceitdeliberate dishonesty;

• Hypocrisy – pretended piety and love;

• Envy – resentful discontent;

• Slander– backbiting lies

Do anyone of these resonate with you? _____

Which one? (Select all that apply) _________

Today, this letter (book in the Bible) – 1 Peter is challenging us to break away from a sinful lifestyle. He’s calling us to crave more than just the title of being a Christian to a full on metaphorical expression of one who is in Christ Jesus. Instead of craving these sinful things, we are told to crave for more ‘spiritual milk’ – desiring more Christ than the world. As we cry out for more of Christ in us, we will begin to notice those things that we selected above will begin to fall away. Are you ready for the full experience of salvation in your life? Then cry out to God and he will answer.

Prayer
Father God, thank you for allowing us to come to you broken and unworthy of your love. Lord, thank you for opportunities to repent and walk in freedom in your word. Lord, thank you for allowing us to see areas in our lives that hinder our relationship with you. Lord, we don’t want to live in despair and darkness anymore. Lord, unveil our eyes to see your goodness and help us to desire more of you than what is in the world. Lord, forgive us of our sins and restore us back to you. Lord, we want to fully embrace and experience what it is like to be a Christian (a follower of you, not a follower of ourselves) and a recipient of salvation. Nourish us Lord, keep renewing us. In Jesus name, amen.
