Good morning! Yesterday’s message was quite the challenge. I knew when I wrote the devotional, that I would be challenged on my left and my right, but even so, at the end of the day the Lord restored me. I pray that if you were also challenged, that the Lord will restore you today and give you strength and courage to try again. Don’t give up. God is so gracious to his imperfect children. Join me as we continue in 1 Peter chapter 1.
Bible Verse 1 Peter 1:17-20 NLT
“17 And remember that the heavenly Father to whom you pray has no favorites. He will judge or reward you according to what you do. So you must live in reverent fear of him during your time here as “temporary residents.” 18 For you know that God paid a ransom to save you from the empty life you inherited from your ancestors. And it was not paid with mere gold or silver, which lose their value. 19 It was the precious blood of Christ, the sinless, spotless Lamb of God. 20 God chose him as your ransom long before the world began, but now in these last days he has been revealed for your sake.”
Reflection
In a world where we are always trying please other people, trying to be noticed and trying to be all things to everyone, it’s easy to get lost in whose and who we are. Isn’t it wonderful to know that God does not have favorites. We are all sinful people who have fallen short (one way or another), but the Lord forgives even the least of these. It is the precious blood of Christ that saves/saved us. No matter how great or less the sin, Jesus held out both of his hands (nailed to the cross – sinless, spotless Lamb of God) so that we could be forgiven and reconciled to God. There is no greater love than the One who defeated both sin and death for us.
Sisters and brothers, if you are struggling with a sin(s) today, the Lord is ready to set you free from those sins. He is able to do far more in you than you could ever imagine. Will you trust Him?
Today, I want to give you an opportunity to respond to God’s grace and mercy. If you haven’t accepted Christ as your Lord and Savior, you believe in your heart that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, that he died on the cross for our sins and rose again on the third day defeating both sin and death, then today is the day that your name will be written in the Book of Life.
Pray with me:
Father God, we thank you for the love you have for us. We don’t deserve anything you give, but we are grateful for you sending your son Jesus to save us from eternal separation from you. We confess with our mouths and believe in our hearts Jesus Christ died on the cross for our sins, so that we will be forgiven and have eternal life in the kingdom of heaven. We believe Jesus rose from the dead and we ask you now to come into our lives and be our Lord and Savior. Lord, we repent of our sins. And, because your word is true, we confess that we are born again believers saved by the blood of Jesus Christ. Amen!
Closing
While we strive to live a life that is pleasing to God, keep on pursuing a new life in Christ. Allow this new life in Christ to be an example to those who are in the world and in the church. Have a wonderful day.
