Good morning! Today is a blessing from God, don’t waste it on distractions from Satan and his followers. Keep pursuing the Lord’s plan. Lord, Jesus have your way today. Enjoy today’s devotion from Acts 16 as he continues on his second missionary journey.
Bible verse
“6 Next Paul and Silas traveled through the area of Phrygia and Galatia, because the Holy Spirit had prevented them from preaching the word in the province of Asia at that time. 7 Then coming to the borders of Mysia, they headed north for the province of Bithynia,[b] but again the Spirit of Jesus did not allow them to go there. 8 So instead, they went on through Mysia to the seaport of Troas.
9 That night Paul had a vision: A man from Macedonia in northern Greece was standing there, pleading with him, “Come over to Macedonia and help us!” 10 So we[c] decided to leave for Macedonia at once, having concluded that God was calling us to preach the Good News there. 11 We boarded a boat at Troas and sailed straight across to the island of Samothrace, and the next day we landed at Neapolis. 12 From there we reached Philippi, a major city of that district of Macedonia and a Roman colony. And we stayed there several days.
13 On the Sabbath we went a little way outside the city to a riverbank, where we thought people would be meeting for prayer, and we sat down to speak with some women who had gathered there. 14 One of them was Lydia from Thyatira, a merchant of expensive purple cloth, who worshiped God. As she listened to us, the Lord opened her heart, and she accepted what Paul was saying. 15 She and her household were baptized, and she asked us to be her guests. “If you agree that I am a true believer in the Lord,” she said, “come and stay at my home.” And she urged us until we agreed.”” – Acts 16:6-15
Reflection
Paul and Silas went to numerous places to share the Good News with the people. There were a few things that hindered Paul’s travel, but it did not stop him from seeing a vision of where to go next or prevent him from sharing the Good News with women and forever changing the life of Lydia and her entire household.
Had Paul and Silas been discouraged early on they would have missed the blessing. They would have missed an opportunity to go where God was leading. They would have missed Lydia.
Sisters and brothers, don’t be dismayed by the road blocks on the journey, instead trust God is rerouting you to a greater destination. Don’t lose hope – someone is waiting for you to arrive with the Good News of Jesus Christ.
Things to ponder:
- What has the Lord put on your heart?❤
- Where is the Lord directing you in this season?
- God knows our heart – How will people know that you are a Christian and choose to follow Christ?
Prayer
Father God, thank you for another day. Thank you for your grace and mercy that extends beyond our understanding. Lord, thank you for leading us and for always checking our heart and convicting us when it’s not aligned with yours. Lord, forgive us for being caught up in petty things that create dissension and division. Lord, forgive us for our sins against you and others. Lord, we want to be effective witnesses for the kingdom no matter where we are. Help us in areas where we fall short and make us whole – complete, lacking nothing. Lord, we desire to serve you. Change us, our thinking, our understanding of your word, the value we place on lives, and our relationship with you. Lord, we want to be a better reflection of Christ Jesus in the world 🌎. Holy Spirit lead. In Jesus name, amen.

“Someone is waiting for you to arrive”, encourages me to continue my journey. Sometimes I will slow down the journey when I feel it’s just about me, but to think someone elses journey may be affected by my actions encourages me to go on.
Mary, I am happy to see you are doing this ministry. When we worked together your words and actions spurred me on.
