Good morning! Sometimes the hardest thing to do is wait. We don’t like waiting in line. We don’t like waiting on our high speed internet connections. However, there are times when we are called to wait. Join me as we continue our reading in Acts 9, where we will read about Saul’s waiting. Enjoy today’s devotion and your day.
7 The men with Saul stood speechless, for they heard the sound of someone’s voice but saw no one! 8 Saul picked himself up off the ground, but when he opened his eyes he was blind. So his companions led him by the hand to Damascus. 9 He remained there blind for three days and did not eat or drink.
10 Now there was a believer[b] in Damascus named Ananias. The Lord spoke to him in a vision, calling, “Ananias!”” – Acts 9:7-10 NLT
Key points:
- The Lord was present but no one saw Him.
- Saul had to depend on the help of others.
- Saul waited for 3 days blind (in the dark).
- Yet, while Saul was waiting in the city, the Lord (Jesus) was calling on Ananias.
Sisters and brothers, there will be times when Jesus will speak loud and clear to us, but others will not recognize His voice – listen anyway. There will be times when we are down and unable to see the full plan and will need others to lift us up and help us/encourage us while we do what the Lord has instructed us to do – stay encouraged and go onto the next step.
In the waiting, the Lord is still working out His plan. You may fill like you are in the dark and cannot see the Lord’s plan, but remember He is the Light. Trust Him to light the path. Will you trust Him while you wait?
Father God thank you for another morning. Thank you for allowing us to see you at work in the world. Thank you for leading us when we couldn’t see things the way you saw them. Lord, touch our eyes and open them to see as You see. Help us when we are anxious about the things. Steady our thoughts and remind us that you are working things out behind the scenes. Lord, be with those who are grieving today. Lord, comfort their hearts and give them peace. Lord, touch the bodies of the sick and heal them. Lord, remove the pain and discomfort that they are feeling. Lead and equip us today. Strengthen our faith and encourage us while we wait on you. In Jesus name, amen.

One of my biggest struggles is waiting. I’m very impatient but I have learned in this season that I need to wait on the Lord more. I’m learning to be more patient as well.
