Good morning! Have you ever received news that made you want to tell everyone about? You know that type of news, that even when you try to keep it to yourself it somehow makes it out of your lips. Who is the first person you told? Well today we will continue in Matthew chapter 28 and read on a similar story.
“The women ran quickly from the tomb. They were very frightened but also filled with great joy, and they rushed to give the disciples the angel’s message. 9 And as they went, Jesus met them and greeted them. And they ran to him, grasped his feet, and worshiped him. 10 Then Jesus said to them, “Don’t be afraid! Go tell my brothers to leave for Galilee, and they will see me there.” – Matthew 28:8-10 NLT
Yesterday we read that Jesus is risen. And if we have accepted Christ as our Lord and Savior, we too are alive in Christ.
In the verses today, we read the women received the angel’s message that Jesus is risen and they were filled with great joy. They didn’t question how or when, they trusted the angel of the Lord and followed the angel’s instructions.
Sisters and brothers I want to ask you, now that you have received the gospel message and know that Jesus has risen,
- Are you filled with great joy?
- Are you ready to grab hold of his firm footing?
- Will you worship him?
- Who will you tell that Jesus is risen?
It’s not too late. As you ponder on those questions I want to remind you not to be afraid. Trust the Lord and find your joy in him. Stand firm on the word of God, so that when things begin to shift and move you will remain unmoved/unshaken. Worship the Lord our God all the days of your life.
Father God, thank you for your word. Thank you for your grace and mercy. Lord, we ask for forgiveness from our sins (known and unknown). Lord, direct our steps and guide us in the way we should go. Cover us with your love, pour into our hearts and transform us to be all that you have called us to be. Lord, keep us aligned to your word and help us to live in your peace. Lord, as we seek to live for you, cover our families from the attacks of the enemy. Lord, we also ask for prayer for the families who were impacted by the church and hotel bombings on Sunday. Lord, comfort those who are grieving and for those who have survived give them the hope that they need to continue to follow after you. Lord, don’t let the enemy instill fear, but make your word and promises greater in our hearts. In Jesus name, amen.
Keep seeking! Keep trusting! Keep praying!
