Good morning! Sometimes in life we just want people to be fair and just. It is difficult at times to be the person on the side of injustice, we simply have a hard time with that and most people would say, “ain’t nobody got time for that”. Today, we will read more on the God’s character. Enjoy today’s reading and your day.
45 At noon, darkness fell across the whole land until three o’clock. 46 At about three o’clock, Jesus called out with a loud voice, “Eli, Eli,[j] lema sabachthani?” which means “My God, my God, why have you abandoned me?”[k]
47 Some of the bystanders misunderstood and thought he was calling for the prophet Elijah.48 One of them ran and filled a sponge with sour wine, holding it up to him on a reed stick so he could drink. 49 But the rest said, “Wait! Let’s see whether Elijah comes to save him.”[l]” – Matthew 27:45-49 NLT
When darkness fell, Jesus Christ, the perfect sin offering was separated from God the Father. In Romans chapter 3:35-26, we read:
“25 For God presented Jesus as the sacrifice for sin. People are made right with God when they believe that Jesus sacrificed his life, shedding his blood. This sacrifice shows that God was being fair when he held back and did not punish those who sinned in times past,26 for he was looking ahead and including them in what he would do in this present time. God did this to demonstrate his righteousness, for he himself is fair and just, and he makes sinners right in his sight when they believe in Jesus.”
A few take aways:
- While Jesus suffered and died for us, there was a greater plan.
- God’s character is fair and just – His mercy, love and forgiveness was demonstrated by presenting Jesus as the sacrifice for sin.
- Believe in Jesus Christ.
Father God, thank you for your son Jesus who sacrificed his life for us. Thank you for being fair and just, knowing we will never be good enough on our own to enter into heaven. Thank you for the perfect sin offering so that our sins would be made right when we believe in Christ Jesus. Lord, continue to remind us of your love toward us. Lord, help us to remember how much you love us and how you have set us free from bondage. Lord, you know the difficulties that surround us and the struggles we must endure. Lord, cover us with your peace and help us to trust the process. Lord, we ask that you increase our faith, equip us with your word and fill us with compassion and love toward our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus. Lord, continue to change us daily. In Jesus name, amen.
