Happy Thursday! Have you ever had a desire to be just like someone else? Maybe you have said, I want to be like…when I grow up? We go as far as observing everything they do and eventually begin to recognize some similarities in our thinking or in our actions. Today as we begin to read 1 Corinthians chapter 11, Paul shares who he imitates. Join me as we begin reading the chapter.
Bible Verse – 1 Corinthians 11:1 NLT
“And you should imitate me, just as I imitate Christ.”
Reflection
Before we breakdown 11:1, we should revisit 1 Corinthians 10:33, where Paul concluded, “I, too, try to please everyone in everything I do. I don’t just do what is best for me; I do what is best for others so that many may be saved.” The primary goal was to demonstrate love for God and others. Also, to build up the church, with new believers and mature others in the faith, and avoiding behaviors that caused people in the church to stumble.
Sisters and brother, Paul is asking us to do the same – let us imitate Christ and do what is best for others so that many may be saved. Let us walk in the freedom we have in Christ Jesus so that our actions may be driven by love.
Questions to ponder:
- How will you imitate Christ?
- What are some practical ways to demonstrate the love of God today?
- Do your words and actions display Christ actively at work in your life?
Prayer
Father God, thank you for today. Thank you for showing us your love. Lord, you never fail to give us examples of who you are or your character. Lord, you continuously lead us in ways that show us how to love others. Lord, continue to work in us. Lord, transform us to be bold and follow after you. Lord, may we become more like you in the church, on our jobs, and in our homes.
Lord, we continue our prayers for those who have been impacted by the winter storms. Lord, we ask for heat, gas, electricity be restored. Lord, we pray for those traveling to and from work or school today – give them safe travels. Lord, we ask for healing for those who are struggling with their mental health, depression, anxiety, physical health, and grief. Lord, remove their pain and give them peace, and renewed peace. Lord, be with us as we make decisions and give us discernment in every situation.
Lord, take the lead in our lives. In Jesus name, amen.
Keep praying! Keep Trusting! Keep believing!
