Some May Not Understand

Happy Wednesday! May the wisdom and the love of the Lord renew and bless you. Join me as we finish 1 Corinthians chapter 2.

Bible Verse – 1 Corinthians 2:13-16 NLT

13 When we tell you these things, we do not use words that come from human wisdom. Instead, we speak words given to us by the Spirit, using the Spirit’s words to explain spiritual truths.[f]14 But people who aren’t spiritual[g] can’t receive these truths from God’s Spirit. It all sounds foolish to them and they can’t understand it, for only those who are spiritual can understand what the Spirit means. 15 Those who are spiritual can evaluate all things, but they themselves cannot be evaluated by others.  16 For, “Who can know the Lord’s thoughts? Who knows enough to teach him?”[Isaiah 40:13] But we understand these things, for we have the mind of Christ.”

Reflection

Here Paul clarifies that human wisdom is not the same as spiritual wisdom. It is the Spirit of God (the Holy Spirit) who unveils the truth of the gospel message and imparts it into our souls and minds. As believers we are given the Holy Spirit and through that power we are more than able to do what God has called us or purposed us to do. While nonbelievers may not understand, their judgment of believers is limited to human thinking. So don’t worry, the Lord is faithful and will continue to strengthen your faith, build you up as a faithful servant (son or daughter) of the Most High King who knows and understands all things.

Sisters and brothers, continue in your pursuit of following Christ. Allow the Holy Spirit to use you to speak the gospel message to nonbelievers, new and mature believers. Let your position as a child of God make you bold in faith, trusting that a Perfect God made you, loves you and accepts you is the same God who sent his one and only son to save you, free you from all your sins, cleansed you, made you whole, and acceptable in the eyes of God. Walk in faith. Trust His word.

Prayer

Father God, thank you for today. Thank you for your love toward us. Lord, you have been so faithful to us. Lord, forgive us when we don’t see things as you do because of our own pride, selfishness or busyness. Lord, we need you. Replenish our souls with more of you and your presence. Lord, direct our steps and align our will with yours. Help us to see things as you see them. Lord, we don’t want to be complacent, we want to be passionate and bold as we grow more in your wisdom and your word. Work within us an understanding that awakens dry bones and brings believers love for you back to life. Use us and continue to change us to be more like you. Lord, help ministries around the world to reach widows, orphans and the homeless. Lord, provide for them financially, mentally and spiritually. Lord, open up the floodgates of heaven and pour out a blessing on those ministries.

Lord, we lift up my niece today as she undergoes breast cancer surgery. Lord, we pray for her healing and recovery. Lord, we pray over the physicians, and other medical providers and we ask that you give them discernment and wisdom. Lord, help them to remove the cancer and create the proper plan for her after care and treatment. Lord, strengthen her body and her faith as she leans on you.

Lord, continue to be with families who are grieving the loss of their loved ones. Help them through the holidays and comfort them. Lord, be with those in need and help them to see you at work – as you provide for them. In Jesus name, amen.

Keep praying! Keep trusting! Keep pursuing the Lord!

A special thank you to those who have contributed and supported this nonprofit ministry.
