Good morning! Sometimes in life we just want people to be fair and just. It is difficult at times to be the person on the side of injustice. Today, we will read more on Jesus’ character. Enjoy today’s reading and your day.
Bible Verse – Matthew 27:45-49 NLT
45 At noon, darkness fell across the whole land until three o’clock. 46 At about three o’clock, Jesus called out with a loud voice, “Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?” which means “My God, my God, why have you abandoned me?”
47 Some of the bystanders misunderstood and thought he was calling for the prophet Elijah. 48 One of them ran and filled a sponge with sour wine, holding it up to him on a reed stick so he could drink. 49 But the rest said, “Wait! Let’s see whether Elijah comes to save him.”[l]”
Reflection
When darkness fell, Jesus Christ, the perfect sin offering was separated from God the Father. In Romans chapter 3:25-26, we read:
“25 For God presented Jesus as the sacrifice for sin. People are made right with God when they believe that Jesus sacrificed his life, shedding his blood. This sacrifice shows that God was being fair when he held back and did not punish those who sinned in times past, 26 for he was looking ahead and including them in what he would do in this present time. God did this to demonstrate his righteousness, for he himself is fair and just, and he makes sinners right in his sight when they believe in Jesus.”
A few take aways:
• While Jesus suffered and died for us, there was a greater plan.
• God’s character is fair and just – His mercy, love and forgiveness was demonstrated by presenting Jesus as the sacrifice for sin.
• Believe in Jesus Christ.
Prayer
Father God, thank you for your son Jesus who sacrificed his life for us. Thank you for being fair and just, knowing we will never be good enough on our own to enter into heaven. Thank you for the perfect sin offering so that our sins would be made right when we believe in Christ Jesus. Lord, continue to remind us of your love toward us. Lord, help us to remember how much you love us and how you have set us free from bondage. Lord, you know the difficulties that surround us and the struggles we must endure. Lord, cover us with your peace and help us to trust the process. Lord, we ask that you increase our faith, equip us with your word, and fill us with compassion and love toward our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus. Lord, continue to change us daily.
We pray for people from all nations to know you and follow you. We pray for those who know you and/or heard of you to believe and accept you as Lord and Savior of their lives. Equip us all to be a mouthpiece for Jesus.
Lord, thank you for your faithfulness toward us. Thank you for your loving kindness toward us. Lord, thank you for showing us your faithfulness. Lord, today we ask for prayer for the woman who was diagnosed with breast cancer last week. Lord, we know she has to walk through this journey and only you can heal her on this side of heaven. Lord, we put our hope and faith in you as you strengthen her, her faith, and heal her. Lord, remove the cancer from her body. Be with the treating physician and don’t let the cancer move to her lymph nodes. Comfort her as she prepares for surgery. Lord, we pray for the woman battling colon cancer and we ask for healing in her body. Lord, remove the tumors and make her cancer free. Lord, we also pray for the woman in need of a kidney. Lord, let a match become available and help her body to accept it without any failure.
Lord, as the holidays approach comfort those who are grieving and missing their loved ones. Lord, be with the men whose father passed away last week. Comfort them and help them to prepare for his funeral service. Lord, equip them with strength and discernment to make the decisions they need to make going forward. Lord, we lift up those recovering from surgery and we ask for the pain to resolve quickly. Lord, we pray for those who are traveling this week and we ask that you provide them safe travels. Lord, we pray for the woman having a heart procedure this week and we ask for the surgery to go well.
In Jesus name, we pray, amen.
Keep seeking! Keep trusting! Keep praying!
