They Stopped Asking

Good morning! Have you ever been in a class and the facilitator or instructor asked a question? Did you raise your hand to answer the question? What about a time when the individual asked a question and the class didn’t know the answer, did everyone sit in silence? Well today, we will read about a similar situation. Join me as we finish our reading in Matthew chapter 22. Enjoy your reading and your Friday.

BIBLE VERSE – Matthew 22:41-46 NLT
41 Then, surrounded by the Pharisees, Jesus asked them a question: 42 “What do you think about the Messiah? Whose son is he?” They replied, “He is the son of David.”

43 Jesus responded, “Then why does David, speaking under the inspiration of the Spirit, call the Messiah ‘my Lord’? For David said, 44 ‘The Lord said to my Lord, Sit in the place of honor at my right hand until I humble your enemies beneath your feet.’[Psalm 110:1]

45 Since David called the Messiah ‘my Lord,’ how can the Messiah be his son?” 46 No one could answer him. And after that, no one dared to ask him any more questions.”

REFLECTION
Now it was Jesus’ turn to answer the questions. He certainly asked the question, and they had no answer – they were silenced.

Remember, in a single day Jesus was asked by different groups of religious leaders questions that would “trap” him. It was three separate occasions. Yet, none of them could trap him. To be honest Jesus taught them and the people around who heard were astonished. The religious leaders quest to disrupt Jesus, led to more people hearing Biblical truth.

Sisters and brothers, today – stand firm in your faith. We may not know all the answers or have the reasons why, but we serve a mighty God who does. Trust Him. Trust His word.

PRAYER
Father God, in the name of Jesus we come humbly to you in prayer. Lord, we need you and ask that you continue to work in our lives. Lord, we ask for your strength, wisdom and discernment. Lord, you are all knowing, creator of heaven and earth. Lord we know you keep and protect us. Thank you for who you are and whose we are. Lord, nothing escapes you, so Lord hold us closer to you. Help us to feel your presence today. Lord, when the weight of the world appears to be too much, lift us up Lord and help us to stand in faith under the pressure. Lord, strengthen our youth, build up our young adults in your word. Lord, equip our churches to minister to our next generation of leaders. Lord, our hope is in you, pour out your Holy Spirit in this world and in us today. Help us to be good examples of God fearing Christians in this world. Lord, when people see us, we want them to see you. Help us and change us Lord to be more like you.

Lord, continue to comfort those who are in pain. Lord, ease the pain they feel and heal them. Lord, surround those grieving and provide them the comfort and peace that they need today. Lord, help them to heal without turning to addictive or harmful devices. Lord, provide employment to those in need of a job or different work environment. Lord, continue to encourage us in your word. Remind us of the strength and power that we have in you.

In Jesus name, amen.
