Happy Tuesday! We will continue our reading in Matthew chapter 17. May the Lord bless and keep you throughout the day. Enjoy today’s reading.

Bible Verse – Matthew 17:4-8 NLT
Peter exclaimed, “Lord, it’s wonderful for us to be here! If you want, I’ll make three shelters as memorials—one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.”

5 But even as he spoke, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and a voice from the cloud said, “This is my dearly loved Son, who brings me great joy. Listen to him.” The disciples were terrified and fell face down on the ground.

7 Then Jesus came over and touched them. “Get up,” he said. “Don’t be afraid.” And when they looked up, Moses and Elijah were gone, and they saw only Jesus.”

Some points:

• Peter understood the significance of Moses, Elijah, and Jesus at the moment. He understood what was being revealed about the kingdom, but Peter was wrong about the timing of it all.

They heard a voice. v.5

• The voice declares “This is my dearly loved Son…Listen to him.”v.5

• Jesus touched them and said, “get up and do not be afraid. ” v.7

• The voice of God confirmed Jesus is the Son of God.

REFLECTION
In these verses, God authenticated who Jesus was and is. Brothers and sisters, when you hear from God, listen. Listen to His voice and follow His instructions. Allow the love of Jesus to touch your heart and give you the strength to get up, do what you’ve been called to do and leave the fear the enemy will try to plant in your heart behind. Trust God’s plan and trust the process, because there is much kingdom work to do here on earth.

PRAYER
Father God, in the name of Jesus we come in prayer. Lord, thank you for your mercy and grace. Thank you for your love toward us. Thank you for the shelter that you provide. Lord, we lean on you to do better in this world and to lead others to you. Lord, we want to be your servants and serve you with our whole heart. Lord, help us to see you at work in our lives. Help us to see you at work in the world. Lord, we don’t want to miss one detail of your miracles. Lord, give us ears to hear, an obedient mind to follow through on Your guidance, and a heart that loves the things you love. Lord, be with us as we continue to seek you. Lord, may we find all the peace, joy, and love you promised us. Lord, thank you for answering our prayers. Lord, thank you for the prayers that you will answer.  Lord, continue to comfort those who are grieving, sick, suffering and dying. Lord, you have the ultimate control over everything, so Lord bring peace, healing and freedom from fear to all who are impacted by the things above. Lord, help those in Texas who have been impacted by the storm and floods. Lord, comfort those parents and others who have lost their loved ones. Lord, restore brokenness, reconcile families and heal marriages. Lord, teach us healthy boundaries and give us discernment when we need to pull away from relationships that are harmful (mentally, emotionally, and physically). Lord, protect our hearts and our minds so that we will hear You and follow your instructions. Continue to change us, Lord. In Jesus name, amen.
