Good morning! The Lord our God is Almighty. He heals, he listens, and he changes things. May the Lord continue to heal us in every area of our lives. Enjoy today’s reading.
BIBLE VERSE – Matthew 8:14-15 NLT
“14 When Jesus arrived at Peter’s house, Peter’s mother-in-law was sick in bed with a high fever. 15 But when Jesus touched her hand, the fever left her. Then she got up and prepared a meal for him.”
REFLECTION
This was the third miracle listed in the book of Matthew after the Sermon on the Mount. Here are some key items we should pay attention to:
- Jesus arrived to the house.
- Jesus touched and healed Peter’s mother-in-law.
- She got up and prepared a meal for him, with the same hands he touched.
Questions:
- Have you invited the Lord into your house, so that He may heal your home and the people in it?
- Will you trust the Lord to heal you and your loved ones?
- Will you continue to trust the Lord when He doesn’t heal you or your loved one?
Sisters and brothers, there are times when the Lord heals us or our loved ones with His mighty power, grace, and mercy. When He has healed, don’t forget to glorify the Lord our God and tell others what He has done. Then get up and serve Him with a grateful heart.
I also know there have been times when we have prayed in faith, cried out to God for healing for ourselves and others but God decided not to heal us or them on this side of heaven, but for all of eternity in heaven they have been healed – no more pain, no more suffering, and no more sorrow. While it is painful to lose someone we love, we know that this earthly place is only temporary – it is not our permanent home, and the hope that we are given is that one day we will be at home with the Lord in heaven for all eternity. Maybe not in our timing, but definitely in the Lord’s. As we grapple with these truths, the Lord is faithful to comfort us in our pain and sorrow. He is faithful to give us His strength and peace. He is loving enough to bring other people alongside us in our time of need and help us through difficult times. In this sense, the Lord is mending and healing our hearts and minds one moment, one hour, and daily.
Let Him.
PRAYER
Father God, thank you for today. Thank you for your love and amazing grace. Lord, thank you for your willingness to heal us when we are sick or need to be healed. Father, deliver us from the bondage of addiction and addictive behaviors that lead to sin and death. Lord, we don’t want to be trapped by those things any more. Lord, be with us as we go throughout the day. Lord, open our eyes to see you at work in our lives and in the lives of others. Lord, give us hope in the midst of storms and in situations we have no control over. Lord, you know our worries and concerns, Lord, renew our trust and faith in you. Lord, heal our minds and give us peace. Lord, heal the sick and broken. Lord, continue to heal those who are mourning and seeking peace in their hearts. Lord, keep working on us. In Jesus name, amen.
