Prayer – August 23, 2024

“I cried out, “I am slipping!” but your unfailing love, O Lord, supported me. When doubts filled my mind, your comfort gave me renewed hope and cheer.” Psalm 94:18-19 NLT

PRAYER

Father God,  we thank you for today’s scripture that reminds us that when we feel  like we are or are slipping, in Your love you help us and keep us from slipping, from falling, from losing our footing. Lord, it reminds us that when the enemy tries to flood our minds with ways to fulfill our own needs, our own desires, our own way – Lord, you/your Holy Spirit speaks to us and comforts us and renews us with hope and cheer that comes from you. Our anger or feelings of rejection cease because you see us. Lord, You know our hearts, our desires, and our weaknesses,  yet you love us enough to stabilize our footing, you stretch your arm out to help ground our faith, our hope and our trust in you. Lord, there is no one like you.

Lord, today we pray for each person who feels like they are slipping, and we ask for you to care for us as you did the Psalmist. Lord, you have called us out of the darkness and into the light. Lord, light our path so that we will keep walking in the light. Lord, fill us up with your light and truth. Help us to let go of thoughts and actions that pull us away from you and your truth. Lord, we want to be good and faithful servants of your word and in the lives that we live. Help us not to be confused or deceived by the enemy who wants us to hold onto anger, fault, or lies. Lord, put in our minds Your thoughts, Your ways, and Your love. Lord, help us to release the things that are not for us. Help us to trust you with the things that are for us. Lord, we want to give You every burden and weight we hold so that we can truly live in the fullness of You and what You have in mind for us. Lord, we desire to tear off the old garments of our past and be fully dressed in Your armor today and always.

Lord,  continue to cover and protect those who are traveling or are away from home today. Lord, bless their journey with peace and safety. Lord, watch over each person as they leave their homes and bless them to be able to return unharmed, uninjured, and at peace. Lord, we ask that every step that we take today, will be a step that is surrounded by Your presence and protection. Lord, my our words align with Your words. Keep us and continue to draw us nearer to you. In Jesus’ name, amen.
