Good morning! Thank you for joining me as we read Matthew chapter 26. Chapter 26 is filled with a lot of details. While I plan to cover each verse, I challenge you to dig into the details because there is much more in them than I can cover in short devotions.

Bible Verse – Matthew 26:1-5 NLT
“1 When Jesus had finished saying all these things, he said to his disciples, 2 “As you know, Passover begins in two days, and the Son of Man will be handed over to be crucified.”

3 At that same time the leading priests and elders were meeting at the residence of Caiaphas, the high priest, 4 plotting how to capture Jesus secretly and kill him. 5 “But not during the Passover celebration,” they agreed, “or the people may riot.””

REFLECTION
For some time, Jesus had been preparing the disciples for his death. Now he is giving them a specific timeframe, basically they had at least two more days together.

If you had two more days on earth, how would you spend those days?

Brothers and sisters, as we read in chapters 24 and 25, we don’t know the day or the hour when we will leave this earth or the day the Lord will return, but we do know this life as we live it today will end. Choose today to live the rest of your life following Jesus – the One who came to save.

PRAYER
Father God, thank you for the hope that we have in you. Thank you for peace and security in you. Thank you for your glorious grace and mercy on us. Lord, your journey to the cross covered the sins of the people at that time and it covers our sins today. Lord, forgive us of our sins (known and unknown) that we have committed. Lord, thank you for forgiveness of sins. Lord, help us to walk and live in alignment to your word. Lord, transform us to be more like you each day that we are here on earth. Lord, equip us with your wisdom and discernment so that we will recognize and be involved in the things that matter to you. Lord, embolden us to live a life that brings glory to your name. Lord, we pray for those who don’t know you, those living without hope in you, the children who are growing up without knowledge of who you truly are. Lord, the enemy is seeking to devour them, Lord equip us to reach that group. Lord, cover those children. Lord, teach us to minister to them in ways that will bring them out of darkness and into the light of you. Lord, strengthen our young adults in your word, and return them back to you, your hope and your promises. Lord, keep working in us. Touch our tongues – tame them. Touch our minds – enlighten them in your word. Touch our hearts – pour your love into our hearts until it overflows into others. In Jesus name, amen.
