The One Who Trusts

Good morning! Have you ever watched a new mom with their toddler? In many cases you will notice how protective they are of their child. They remove dangerous items from their path or reach, they watch them while they play and at the hint of danger or a potential fall they jump into action to protect and care for the child. Their eyes are constantly watching to guide and direct each step when they begin to walk. Today we will finish Psalm 32 where the Psalmist describes many of the same characteristics of the Lord toward us. The Lord is faithful and He loves us. Enjoy today’s devotion.

Bible verse – Psalm 32:6-11 NIV

“Therefore let all the faithful pray to you
    while you may be found;
surely the rising of the mighty waters
    will not reach them.
You are my hiding place;
    you will protect me from trouble
    and surround me with songs of deliverance.

I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go;
    I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.
Do not be like the horse or the mule,
    which have no understanding
but must be controlled by bit and bridle
    or they will not come to you.
10 Many are the woes of the wicked,
    but the Lord’s unfailing love
    surrounds the one who trusts in him.

11 Rejoice in the Lord and be glad, you righteous;
    sing, all you who are upright in heart!”

Reflection

There are several key items to hold onto in these verses:

  • Let all the faithful pray
  • The Lord is our hiding place
  • The Lord protects us from trouble
  • The Lord instructs and teaches us in the way we should go
  • The Lord will counsel us
  • His loving eye is on us
  • The Lord’s unfailing love surrounds those who trust in Him

Sisters and brothers we have a loving Father who is faithful to love us even at times when we feel unlovable.

It wasn’t by mistake that He sent his one and only son Jesus to save us. It was love. He knew exactly what we needed – a Savior and Redeemer; and that is what we received at no cost to us. John 3:16-17(NIV) says:

16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.”

The Lord is often making us aware of His presence. Trust who He says He is and what He has promised. Allow Him to take the lead and show himself faithful in all He does.

Questions to ponder:

  • Do you believe?
  • How will you rejoice in the Lord today?

Prayer

Father God, thank you for today. Thank you for sending your son Jesus Christ to save us and reconcile us back into relationship with you. Lord, we praise you for the unfailing love that you have shown us today. We praise you for never leaving us or forsaking us. Lord, as we go throughout this day remind us of your faithfulness. Lord, help us to feel your presence. Reignite passion into our hearts and minds to live for you, to share the Good News – gospel message with those around us. Lord, remind us to live out your truth and to be a light in the world. Lord, we pray for those who stepped away from the church during the pandemic. Lord, we pray for those who desire to draw close to you. Lord, we pray for households to return back to God – their first love. Lord, we pray for churches to arise in the truth of God’s word. We pray for the members of the church to be transformed daily and abide in God’s love. Lord, renew, refresh and restore us back to you. Touch the sick, mend the brokenhearted, and fill our hearts with more of you. In Jesus name we pray, amen.
