Whatever You Do

Good morning! I love waking up with a spiritual song on my heart or a verse in my mind. It’s in those moments is when I clearly feel the Lord’s presence in the midst of life circumstances. Those songs minister to me. Have you ever found yourself simply singing a worship/spiritual song in the middle of the day? Where you feel the Lord’s presence but didn’t realize it until the words of those songs began to come from your lips.

Today’s verses conclude Apostle Paul’s message from Colossians 3 verses 1-15 that we read on Monday and Tuesday of this week. May today’s verses bless you. Have a wonderful day.

Bible verse – Colossians 3:16-17 NLT

16 Let the message about Christ, in all its richness, fill your lives. Teach and counsel each other with all the wisdom he gives. Sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs to God with thankful hearts. 17 And whatever you do or say, do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through him to God the Father.”

Reflection

Sisters and brothers, the past two days we have received instructions on godly character, what maturing in Christ should look like, and how we should look and respond to circumstances as Christians. While I have read those verses on numerous occasions, it was a great reminder for me.

The beauty of being a believer is that when we surrender our lives to Christ our lives begin to transform. Sometimes the change is gradual and other times it is right away. As we continue to grow and learn about God through Christ Jesus in the Bible the more that that wisdom begins to fill our lives. Then we are able to share with others (believers and non-believers) the wisdom that we receive through Christ and the Holy Spirit.

Sisters and brothers, whatever we do or say while professing to be Christians is a representation of Christ. People are looking at us to see if they should believe what we believe. People are noticing that some who profess to be Christians are not behaving as followers of Christ – and Satan is quick to point that out to others who are on the fence with their faith. While we are not perfect, we are called to be good representatives. Let’s make sure that when we are representing Christ that we do it well – in whatever we do or say.

Questions to ponder:

  • How has your life changed since you accepted Christ as your Lord and Savior?
  • What area of your life are you struggling to represent Christ well? __________
  • Who needs to see Christ living in you? _______
  • Finally, who challenges your peace of mind and your ability to respond in love? _______
    • Now pray for that person(those people) and continue to pray for them each day this month. Stand in the gap for them praying for them asking for Christ to work in them and change them. Also, ask for Christ to keep working in you while he is working on them.

Sing praise today, because the Lord’s presence is with you and He promises not to leave you.

Prayer

Father God thank you for today. Thank you for being our protector and shield. Thank you for the mercy and grace that you give to us. Lord Jesus, thank you for standing in on our behalf and for taking away our sins. Lord, forgive us for the times we failed to follow you. Forgive us for the times when we did not represent you well. Lord, the past two days have been packed with lots of information on living in You. Lord, we want to be good representatives of you. Lord, continue to work in us and change us. Work in the hearts and lives of all who profess to be Christians and transform us so that we can represent you well. Lord, heal our nation, our homes, and the hearts of believers and non-believers. Lord, we are grateful for all you have done and continue to do. We praise you with our whole heart. Continue to draw us near to you. In Jesus name, amen.
