Good morning! Have you ever been deep into thought that when someone tried to gain your attention they said you were staring into space? Sometimes we get lost in our thoughts whether they are good or bad. Join me as we read verses 8-9 where Apostle Paul will encourage us in our thoughts. Have a wonderful morning.

Bible verse: Philippians 4:8-9 NLT

“⁸ And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. ⁹ Keep putting into practice all you learned and received from me—everything you heard from me and saw me doing. Then the God of peace will be with you.”

Reflection

Apostle Paul was aware of his relationship with Christ. He sought to encourage the church at Philippi a little more with a reminder about their thoughts. Yet, it’s guidance for us too, Apostle Paul said:

• Fix your thoughts on:
  • what is true
  • honorable
  • right
  • pure
  • lovely
  • admirable
• Think about things that are:
  • excellent
  • worthy of praise

Sisters and brothers, our thoughts can re-write movies quicker than Hollywood. We will go through extreme moments in the script where we take a situation and re-write it with our preferred drama, antagonist, and ending. We get so wrapped up in a false reality in our thoughts that we forget our real purpose and mission here on earth – to share the Good News and point others to Christ. Let’s stop to understand where the root of those scripts began drafting in your mind. If they were created from lies, anger, misunderstanding or a false narrative – it’s time to rip up the script and allow the Lord to write the true store. Surrender those thoughts and watch the Lord re-write the script with what is true, pure and right…it will be excellent and worthy of praise. Trust Him.

1. What will you fix your thoughts on today?
2. How will you remind yourself to think on things that are excellent and worthy of praise?

Prayer

Father God thank you for your love toward us. Thank you for loving us with the greatest love there will ever be. Thank you for filling our hearts with your presence. Thank you for your peace and careful eye that guides us throughout our days. Lord, we sometimes struggle with our thoughts and we need your help to put our thoughts under your submission. Lord, our thoughts have been responsible for things that have flown out our mouths that don’t align with your will. Our thoughts have lied to us in many occasions. Lord, we ask that you helps us take our thoughts captive and to fix them on what is true, honorable, right, pure, lovely, and admirable. Help us to think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. Lord, take the lead today. Let Your peace over flow in our lives. In Jesus name, amen.
