Good morning! In America, today is the official election day, for some it is referred to as voting day. In response to what is taking place in our nation, and with millions of eyes watching us from a far, I felt led to step away from our reading in Acts chapter 20 to remind us of who we should remain focused on. Join me as we read a few verses from Philippians.
Bible verse: Philippians 4:6-7 NLT
“6 Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. 7 Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.”
Prayer
Father God, we thank you for today. We thank you for the air in our lungs, the blood pump through our hearts, and your Holy Spirit living on the inside of us. Lord, we are comforted by the fact that you did not leave us alone, but you sent and advocate (the Holy Spirit) to remind us of all the promises and things that have been taught in your word. Lord, there is no greater comfort than to know you and have your perfect peace living on the inside of us. Lord, we accept your gift of abundant peace today. We trust that you know what is best for us. We trust that even in times of opposition that you are fighting for us, making a way for us, pruning and refining us for your greater purpose. Lord, only you can calm the raging storms and seas. Lord, if you can calm the seas, keep the earth in motion, cause the sun and moon to rise, and for the stars to suspend in the skies – we know nothing is too hard for you. So Lord, calm any anxiety that is in our hearts today. Remove anger, depression, bitterness, worry and stress. Destroy the plots of Satan and his followers against people in this world. Fill this world with your angels of protection and an overflow of peace that surpasses all understanding. Replace the things that are not of you, with everything that is of you. Lead us today, our Lord and Savior. Remind us of your greatness and power. Guard our tongues, limit our fingers from pushing post to an emotional response, and convict our hearts when we move out of alignment with your will for us and those you love. Lord, touch those who are in the hospital and bring healing. Lord, comfort family members who are unable to be around their loved ones, and give us boldness to stand in the gap and pray for those who need prayer. We lift up the service men who are under attack and/or received threats of violence on their bases. Lord, we pray for their safety. We pray for those who are battling cancer, those recovering from surgeries, and others who are battling other medical conditions. Lord – place your hand of healing on them and deliver them from their ailments. We pray also for other nations who are experiencing terrorist attacks and ask that you cease the evil that is trying to prevail over your children who call you by your name. Lord, have your way today. In the mighty name of Jesus we pray, amen!
