Good morning! The one thing I’ve learned over time is that people like to hear a good story. Many people wait with anticipation of the next little bit of gossip. They call, scroll or create their own stories just to hear what is going on. The next time someone calls you about gossip, be like Peter share with them what God has been doing or done in your life. Join me as we continue to read Acts chapter 12.
Bible verse
“16 Meanwhile, Peter continued knocking. When they finally opened the door and saw him, they were amazed. 17 He motioned for them to quiet down and told them how the Lord had led him out of prison. “Tell James and the other brothers what happened,” he said. And then he went to another place.
18 At dawn there was a great commotion among the soldiers about what had happened to Peter. 19 Herod Agrippa ordered a thorough search for him. When he couldn’t be found, Herod interrogated the guards and sentenced them to death. Afterward Herod left Judea to stay in Caesarea for a while.” – Acts 12:16-19 NLT
Reflection
I’ve been pondering over yesterday’s verses and the verses we read today. I’ve been revisiting my thoughts on the following questions:
- How often does the Lord give us the answer to our prayer(s) and we leave it at the door?
- How often do we hear “that was answered prayer” but we are disappointed by the delivery of the answer or we don’t trust what God has done?
Today’s verses are clear in the since that they all finally saw their answer to prayer. They were “amazed”. Peter had to motion for them to keep quiet. Yet, Peter made sure others knew of his deliverance. Peter didn’t stay, he continued on with the work of the Lord.
Sisters and brothers, we need to start telling others how God answered our prayers. We need to be amazed by what God is doing and making sure others know that God is still moving, acting and answering prayers. Give God the praise He deserves. Praise Him in the midst of good times, in the midst of your circumstances, in the midst of your struggle, in the midst of confusion because we know God will come through for you; and when He does…keep praising and tell others.
