The Vision

Happy Thursday! Have you ever had a dream that you tried to make since of? Do you keep a notebook next to your bed to write your dream/vision down? Yesterday, we read about the vision Peter was given, today we will continue with our reading in Acts chapter 10.

Bible verse

17 Peter was very perplexed. What could the vision mean? Just then the men sent by Cornelius found Simon’s house. Standing outside the gate, 18 they asked if a man named Simon Peter was staying there.

19 Meanwhile, as Peter was puzzling over the vision, the Holy Spirit said to him, “Three men have come looking for you. 20 Get up, go downstairs, and go with them without hesitation. Don’t worry, for I have sent them.” 21 So Peter went down and said, “I’m the man you are looking for. Why have you come?”

22 They said, “We were sent by Cornelius, a Roman officer. He is a devout and God-fearing man, well respected by all the Jews. A holy angel instructed him to summon you to his house so that he can hear your message.” 23 So Peter invited the men to stay for the night. The next day he went with them, accompanied by some of the brothers from Joppa.” – Acts 10:17-23 NLT

Reflection

Peter received a vision but he was still struggling with the interpretation of the vision. Yet, it didn’t stop Peter from hearing the Holy Spirit prompt him to meet the three men, greet them and welcome them in.

The men had traveled approximately 33 miles to bring Peter back. It was nearly a two day journey. The reason – Cornelius wanted to hear the message of Jesus Christ.

Sisters and brothers, what length are you willing to go to hear the message of Jesus Christ?

  • Are you willing to take a reach to your phone to read the Bible daily?
  • Are you willing to set aside time to read the word?
  • Are you willing to turn your television on to watch church online?

We have so many options today, even with many churches being closed during the pandemic. Sisters and brothers, lets have a hunger for the word like they did and begin to feed on daily bread (the Word of God) that will sustain us today and in the days ahead.

Don’t let Satan obstruct your vision. See what God has planned for you. Write it down, pray over it and keep moving forward in the Lord.

Prayer

Father God thank you for your amazing grace and mercy. Father God you are the begin and end, and it is because of You that all things exist. Thank you for making us and for shaping us daily to became more like Christ. Father becoming Christ like on our own is an impossible task for us, so we are grateful that you are the God of possible, the maker and shaper who smoothes the rough edges, rebuilds broken sections, waters us again to make us more flexible to what you are doing in and through us. Lord God, help us to take shape and make us into one of your beautiful masterpieces. Create in us a pure heart that loves you and your people. Stretch us and equip us daily. Lord give us visions and dreams to help us see what you are doing within us and in the world. Holy Spirit prompt us to go share the gospel message with others in the world. Lord, be with us and take the lead today. Lord, be with those who are unemployed and have had their benefits cuts. Move the law makers to finalize decisions today. Lord, let them move in alignment to your will and plan. Lord, we pray for those having surgeries today and ask that all will go well, heal those who are ill and give medical professionals/scientists insight on a cure for the COVID-19 virus and other deadly/chronic diseases. Most of all Lord, we know you are our healer and we trust you will not only heal us, but that you will also heal our hearts, minds and our (Your) land – have Your way. In the mighty name of Jesus we pray, amen.
