Another Plot

Happy Friday! Even when the enemy plots, the Lord makes away. Put your hope and faith in the Lord and anchor it there. Enjoy today’s devotion and your weekend. *Don’t forget to sign-up for the retreat.*

Bible verse

22 Saul’s preaching became more and more powerful, and the Jews in Damascus couldn’t refute his proofs that Jesus was indeed the Messiah. 23 After a while some of the Jews plotted together to kill him. 24 They were watching for him day and night at the city gate so they could murder him, but Saul was told about their plot. 25 So during the night, some of the other believers[e] lowered him in a large basket through an opening in the city wall.” – Acts 9:22-25 NLT

Reflection

Saul’s messages were powerful, but as he continued to preach they became more powerful.

Sisters and brothers, the Lord continued to sharpen the sword of the spirit- the word of God in the hands of Saul. Everything the enemy tried to throw at him, Saul refuted with the message of Jesus Christ.

Again, let’s reflect on a verse from early this week when the Lord told Ananias about Saul, “And I will show him how much he must suffer for my name’s sake.” (Acts 9:16)

I’m certain it wasn’t easy for Saul. He had to go back to the very people he had encouraged to persecute Christians to inform them that he was wrong – the message of Jesus the Messiah is true. Saul was in a tough situation with the people who knew his past and at a state of slow trust by believers who lived through the period of his persecution of Christians. But, the Lord was faithful to Saul. The Lord continued to protect and strengthen Saul.

Sisters and brothers, no matter what your past may look like the Lord knows your future with Him. Do not get distracted by those who plot against what you are doing for the Lord. Keep your eyes focused on the goal. Sharpen your sword – the sword of the Spirit = the word of God so that you may continue to stand against the lies/plots of Satan. The Lord is for you – weapons may form but they won’t prosper.

We will see God’s victory.

Prayer

Father God thank you. Thank you for your mighty work and hand upon us. Lord thank you for never leaving us or forsaking us. Lord, equip us and strengthen us. Guide us and make us new in you. Direct our hearts and our minds to remain focused on you. Lord, we know you will get the victory. Be with us as we continue to share the message of Jesus with others. Sharpen our swords (the word of God within us) and humble our hearts so that we will be bold but not a hinderence to cross. Speak through us Lord. Use our voices, talents and abilities to reach your people. Cover the retreat tomorrow. Cover those who will be watching and hearing. May Your word go forth and touch those who are in need of You. Lord touch all the volunteers – steady their hearts and minds, steady their internet/WiFi reception, but most of all Lord – have Your way. In the mighty name of Jesus we pray. Amen!
