Good morning! God continues to show himself faithful in every situation we encounter. Join me as we continue to read how God used a faithful servant. Also, remember how God desires to use us too. Have a blessed Monday!
Bible verse:
“34 The eunuch asked Philip, “Tell me, please, who is the prophet talking about, himself or someone else?” 35 Then Philip began with that very passage of Scripture and told him the good news about Jesus.
36 As they traveled along the road, they came to some water and the eunuch said, “Look, here is water. What can stand in the way of my being baptized?” [37] [c] 38 And he gave orders to stop the chariot. Then both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water and Philip baptized him. 39 When they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord suddenly took Philip away, and the eunuch did not see him again, but went on his way rejoicing. 40 Philip, however, appeared at Azotus and traveled about, preaching the gospel in all the towns until he reached Caesarea.” – Acts 8:34-40 NLT
Points:
- Philip didn’t miss an opportunity to share the Good News of Jesus.
- The Eunuch was baptized in water. It wasn’t a special location, it was clearly just a place where there was water.
- The Eunuch went on rejoicing and Philip continued to preach the gospel (Good News of Jesus) everywhere he traveled.
Reflection:
God used Philip in a mighty way. Philip began as a man who was well respected and full of the Spirit and wisdom. His purpose as initially given by the apostles was to help with the food program to end the discrimination that had been taking place against the widows (see Acts 6). However, God had a greater plan for Philip. While Philip scattered from Jerusalem, he continued to share the gospel with all who would listen. Because of the Holy Spirit working through Philip many believed and received Christ as their Lord and Savior.
Do you recall the time you when you said yes to Jesus? Were you excited like the Eunuch? Are you still that excited?
Sisters and brothers, you are currently on a journey with Christ. I don’t know exactly where you are on your journey or what you are doing, but God does. You may be like the Eunuch who was new to understanding who Jesus is, or you may be like Philip where the closer you get to the Lord the more you desire to do His will, or maybe you are somewhere in between – but God sees you and He loves you. The journey will not be easy, but it is worth it. May I encourage you to keep moving forward in Christ, to keep growing in the word, and to allow God to use you right where you are, until He leads you to the next place.
Whether you’ve been scattered from the church building due to the COVID-19 pandemic or due to health conditions that prevent you from going into a sanctuary, know that God has not left your side. He is a good Father who loves you, who has gifted you with spiritual gifts, and desires to use you for His purpose. Sisters and brothers, move forward in Christ. Trust God’s plan.
Prayer:
Father God thank you for sending your son Jesus Christ to save us. Thank you that now through belief and acceptance of Christ Jesus as our Lord and Savior, the Holy Spirit is dwelling within us. Lord God there is no one greater than you. You are the Alpha and the Omega, the Prince of Peace, the Great I Am, and the One who created us. Lord, continue to mold and shape us into your image. Use us in our homes, in our churches, in the streets, on our jobs, or wherever you see fit to use us for your kingdom purpose. Lord, we are tired of getting lost on the journey, we are tired of taking shorts cuts just to start back where we began. Lord, we are committed to following your plan and your guidance. Lord we desire to draw nearer to you. Forgive us of our sins, humble our hearts, and continue to transform us. Lord, go before us this week and give us favor in all things you have set before us. Put the full armor of God on us and shield us from the plot of the enemy. Give us wisdom and discernment to turn away from the things that are pulling us away from you. In Jesus name, amen.
