Good morning! Yesterday, we read about a lame man who set at a gate called beautiful. He had no idea that he would be healed that day, but he was. Join me as we continue the story in Acts chapter 3.
“11 While the man held on to Peter and John, all the people were astonished and came running to them in the place called Solomon’s Colonnade. 12 When Peter saw this, he said to them: “Fellow Israelites, why does this surprise you? Why do you stare at us as if by our own power or godliness we had made this man walk? 13 The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified his servant Jesus. You handed him over to be killed, and you disowned him before Pilate, though he had decided to let him go. 14 You disowned the Holy and Righteous One and asked that a murderer be released to you. 15 You killed the author of life, but God raised him from the dead. We are witnesses of this. 16 By faith in the name of Jesus, this man whom you see and know was made strong. It is Jesus’ name and the faith that comes through him that has completely healed him, as you can all see.” Acts 3:11-16 NLT
Peter didn’t know this divine appointment with the lame being healed would also be the opportunity to preach, and speak to many about who Jesus Christ is:
- God’s servant – “The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified his servant Jesus.“(v.13)
- “The Holy and Righteous One.” (v.14)
- “The author of life.” (v.15)
Peter also pointed out that every attempt to discredit or destroy Jesus had a but God moment that brought about His glory.
- You handed him over to be killed, and you disowned him before Pilate, but God has glorified His servant Jesus. (v.13)
- You disowned the Holy and Righteous One, You killed the author of life, but God raised him from the dead. (v.14-15)
Peter continued – the lame man walks because of faith in the name of Jesus.
Sisters and brothers, don’t lose faith. The same faith in Jesus that Peter, John and the lame man displayed is the same faith that is available to us today. God has the power to change us, our circumstances and our situations. Even in the midst of everything Jesus went through until his death, God used it for His glory.
What area of your life needs healing? __________
As believers we may desire for everything in our lives to be perfect because we serve a perfect God, but that will not always be the case. Sometimes we have to walk through things, experience somethings and acknowledge somethings to see God in our stories and where witnesses will see God at work in our lives so that they will believe. God doesn’t waste a thing. Trust Him. Trust His plan. Your but God moment is coming.
Father God, we thank you for the love you have shown us. We thank you for giving us an opportunity to surrender our lives to you and walk with you. Lord, thank you for never leaving our side. Lord, even when our prayers aren’t answered the way we thought they would be we are grateful to you for knowing what is best for us. Lord, we trust you with this day, with your plan and purpose for our lives. What the devil meant for evil in our lives, we know there is a but God moment. So Lord, have your way. Begin to work it out, heal us, change us and make us knew in You. In Jesus name we pray, amen.
