Open Hearts

Happy Friday! There are times when we are vulnerable enough to care for others and share our lives with people. We share some of our deepest passions, experiences and trials with friends and family. We share honestly with an open heart to those we love and consider trustworthy. Throughout 1 and 2 Corinthians Paul shared truth and love with the Corinthian church, today we will read one of his heartfelt responses to them. Join me as we continue our reading in 2 Corinthians chapter 6.

11 Oh, dear Corinthian friends! We have spoken honestly with you, and our hearts are open to you. 12 There is no lack of love on our part, but you have withheld your love from us. 13 I am asking you to respond as if you were my own children. Open your hearts to us!” – 2 Corinthians 6:11-13 NLT

While Paul preached the Good News and shared his hardships as a Christian and his love for the Corinthian church, there were still many believers being distracted by false teachers and were being lured by idols. Paul, knew there were religious people who were none believers feeding false teachings to the people of the Corinthian church. However, Paul did not give up loving on the church or his mission to lead them back to the Good News.

Sisters and brothers, there will be times when we will share our testimonies, our love for others and the Good News to people we love, but their hearts will be closed. I want to encourage you not to give up. Keep praying for them. Continue to be an example of Christ in the world. Don’t lose hope, because God never gave up on us. Keep praying!

Father God, thank you for your word today. Thank you for the examples of faith in your word. Lord, thank you for seeing us at our worst, but you still made a way for us to be reconciled to you. Father, thank you for sending your son Jesus to save us. Lord, as we read and learn more about your word, open up our hearts to the things that concern you. Lord, build us up and keep us grounded in your truth. Lord, strengthen our faith to minister to those who don’t know you or those who have lost their way. Lord, give us your peace as we continue to pray, encourage, and care for the lost, least and last. Lord, guide us into all your ways. Lord, we lift up those who are having surgeries today and ask that you be with the physician. Lord, you are the Great Physician, guide their hands and minds as they care for your children. Lord, may each surgery be successful. Lord, we pray for those who are having difficulties in their marriage relationships and ask that you clear up the communication, bless them and heal any brokenness that they have experienced. Father we pray for those who are experiencing financial struggles and hunger. Lord, your word says that you are Provider, so Lord we ask that you provide in a mighty way and teach us to be great stewards of what belongs to you. Lord, heal the sick, touch the minds of your people and make them whole, and be with those who are lonely and lost – let them know that you are with them. In Jesus name, amen.
