Good morning! Have you ever been on a trip? A trip that would take you away from all your easy access to things you like. If so, you know the preparation that is required for that trip. First things first, hygiene essentials, next under garments, clothing for the occasion(s) or weather. Then you need to be at your departing location on time and ready to go, but if your transportation is delayed, you still must stay ready to depart (e.g., hours in an airport). Today, in Matthew 24 Jesus talks about keeping watch and staying ready. Enjoy today’s reading and your day.
“37 “When the Son of Man returns, it will be like it was in Noah’s day. 38 In those days before the flood, the people were enjoying banquets and parties and weddings right up to the time Noah entered his boat. 39 People didn’t realize what was going to happen until the flood came and swept them all away. That is the way it will be when the Son of Man comes.
40 “Two men will be working together in the field; one will be taken, the other left. 41 Two women will be grinding flour at the mill; one will be taken, the other left.
42 “So you, too, must keep watch! For you don’t know what day your Lord is coming. 43 Understand this: If a homeowner knew exactly when a burglar was coming, he would keep watch and not permit his house to be broken into. 44 You also must be ready all the time, for the Son of Man will come when least expected.” – Matthew 24:37-44 NLT
Brothers and sisters, while we don’t know the time or day the Lord will come, keep watch and be ready all the time. Live your best life in Him. Trust His plan for your life. Are you ready? If the Lord were to come right now, where you are, will you be found in Him? Will you be ready? If you are not ready, it’s time to get ready – He is coming back.
Lord, we want to be ready on the day you come. Lord, forgive us for taking your word and warnings lightly. We do not want to perish because we failed to listen or follow your guidance. Lord, we want to follow you and live our lives for you for all eternity. Lord, as we walk in your word and live accordingly, teach us to share your message of salvation to those who do not know you. Lord, help us to be living testimonies of your grace and mercy, so that others will see you in us. Lord we pray for those who are in the mission fields spreading the true gospel message. Lord, protect them and keep them. Lord, you provide for us, but we ask for extra provisions for safety, food and comfort. Lord, we pray for ministers around the world and ask that you make them bold in your truth, so that they will teach your word without fear, with accuracy and allow your Holy Spirit to penetrate the hearts of those who hear your word. Lord, restore marriages, families and broken hearts. Lord, heal and improve relationships within homes. Lord, touch the sick and lonely – make them well and help them to feel your presence today. Lord, you know our every need, so Lord, today, right now we leave all our cares and worries with you. Lord, use us in a mighty way to continue to serve you. In Jesus name, amen.
Keep praying, Keep trusting, Keep reading the Bible.
