Good morning! Have you ever been excited to make a meal only to realize you are missing a key ingredient? Maybe you wanted to bake a cake, but you were out of eggs. Maybe as a kid you were making a bowl of cereal, but the milk was gone. While you might be able to substitute eggs or eat dry cereal you will still miss the taste you initially desired. It’s the same when we try to do things without the Lord – the key ingredient. You may be able to do things apart from the Lord, using substitute after substitute but it will never have a rich flavor or be the best that it could be, you will always desire or crave for better until you include the best ingredient of all – the Lord God. Enjoy today’s Psalm and your day.
“1 Unless the Lord builds a house,
the work of the builders is wasted.
Unless the Lord protects a city,
guarding it with sentries will do no good.
2 It is useless for you to work so hard
from early morning until late at night,
anxiously working for food to eat;
for God gives rest to his loved ones.” Psalm 127:1-2 NLT
What are you working on or trying to accomplish? ________
Have you consulted with the Lord about it? _________
Have you added his instructions and followed his plan/instructions or are you using substitutions hoping it will turn out good? _________
It’s not too late to redesign your plans and follow the Lord’s plan.
Jeremiah 29:11-13 reads:
“11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. 12 Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. 13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.”
Father God, we thank you for your guidance and wisdom. Lord, as you gave Solomon wisdom, we ask that you give us wisdom, wise counsel, guidance and an obedient heart. Lord, you are our rock and strong tower, lead us in your perfect ways. Lord, give us insight as we seek to do things your way. Lord, pour out your favor on those who are seeking you with their whole heart. Lord, give peace to those who are restless and struggling with decisions they need to make. Lord, open doors of employment for people looking for jobs. Lord, provide homes for those seeking shelter. Lord, fill the stomachs of the hungry. Lord, continue to send missionaries and disciples to areas where the gospel message has not been preached – strengthen them and protect them from harm. Lord, be with our nations leaders and change their hearts and minds to be aligned with your word. Lord, continue to work in us, help us to use and keep you as our key ingredient forever. In Jesus name, amen.
Keep seeking! Keep trusting! Keep praying!
