Happy Friday! Is there anything too hard for God?
“1 I waited patiently for the Lord to help me, and he turned to me and heard my cry. 2 He lifted me out of the pit of despair, out of the mud and the mire. He set my feet on solid ground and steadied me as I walked along. 3 He has given me a new song to sing, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see what he has done and be amazed. They will put their trust in the Lord. 4 Oh, the joys of those who trust the Lord, who have no confidence in the proud or in those who worship idols. 5 O Lord my God, you have performed many wonders for us. Your plans for us are too numerous to list. You have no equal. If I tried to recite all your wonderful deeds, I would never come to the end of them.” Psalm 40:1-5 NLT
For the Psalmist David these words were absolutely true. We can read about his life and see what the Lord did for him and be amazed. However, the story doesn’t stop with David. For generations before and after, the Lord heard the cries of his people and he delivered them and as a result many have put their trust in the Lord.
My challenge for you today and this weekend is to trust the Lord.
1. Write down what you are waiting for the Lord to do? (be honest with yourself and the Lord)
2. Spend time in prayer, sit still in his presence and pour out your heart to him?
3. Think about all the things that the Lord has brought you through. List at least five (5).
4. Out of those five things, how many of them can you say “only God” got me through? ___
As you seek the Lord and wait for the Lord to answer, remember – Jesus’ words to the disciples in Luke 11:9-10 (read the entire chapter if you can):
“9 “And so I tell you, keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. 10 For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.” (NLT)
Father God, we come seeking you and your direction for our lives. Lord, forgive us when we fall short and our will gets in the way. Lord, we need you in our lives – front and center. Father, we ask that you give us wisdom and strength on this journey of faith. Lord, we ask that you hear our cries and answer our prayers. However, Lord, we trust you know what is best for us. Lord, we thank you for the things you have brought us through and will deliver us from. Lord, as you set our feet on solid ground and stable our walk – put a song of praise in our hearts so that others will hear about your grace and mercy, learn to trust you and completely surrender their lives to you. Lord, we lift up our brothers and sisters in the faith who are struggling right now and ask that you give them peace. Lord, comfort those who are hurting and heal their wounds. Lord, be with the least, last and lost and remind them that they are loved. Lord, be with those without a permanent home and keep them safe from harm. Lord, we desire to please you and bring you glory – order our steps. Lord, continue to work in and through us. Change us, Lord – we want to be more like you. In Jesus name, amen!
Keep seeking! Keep trusting! Keep praying!
