Good Morning! It’s a wonderful day to spend time with the Lord.
“My dear children, I am writing this to you so that you will not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate who pleads our case before the Father. He is Jesus Christ, the one who is truly righteous. He himself is the sacrifice that atones for our sins—and not only our sins but the sins of all the world. And we can be sure that we know him if we obey his commandments. If someone claims, “I know God,” but doesn’t obey God’s commandments, that person is a liar and is not living in the truth. But those who obey God’s word truly show how completely they love him. That is how we know we are living in him. Those who say they live in God should live their lives as Jesus did.” 1 John 2:1-6 NLT
Have you ever experienced being around a “strong-willed child? The child is generally smart, understands what you say and can repeat what you say verbatim. The only challenge is their will to do what you ask them to do versus their strong desire to do things their way (regardless of the consequences). Do you know a strong-willed child? Were you the strong-willed child?
Let’s put this into perspective. We are generally smart, we understand the basic principles in the Bible and can probably repeat a scripture or two, however we also have our own will. Our will gives us an opportunity to depend on ourselves (regardless of the consequences) or trust God – the creator of all things, who knows what is best for us.
Are you living a life that is submitted to God’s will? _______
If not, what’s holding you back? ________
If so, what are some of the areas you struggle with? _______
Today, if you want to fully surrender your will to God’s will, ask God to help you in the areas that keep you from following His will.
Father God, we thank you and love you for all that you have done and continue to do for us. Lord, thank you for being our advocate. Lord, we want to follow you. Lord, we want to submit our will completely to you. Lord, help us in the areas where we struggle to follow your command. Help us to live our lives as Jesus did – committed to follow your will and plan. Lord, be with those who are going through a difficult season in their lives and give them the strength that they need. Lord, be with those who are on their way to work or school protect them and keep them safe. Give them wisdom for the day ahead and peace of mind. Be with the students who are preparing for final exams – give them success in their studies and assignments. Lord, be with those who are in need and provide for them in miraculous ways. Lord, continue to change us to be more like you. In Jesus name, Amen.
Keep seeking! Keep trusting! Keep praying!
