Good morning! Sisters and brothers, have you ever found yourself waiting for something to change? Maybe you were waiting for a traffic light to change, a price on something you’ve wanted to change or for someone to change.
Today’s devotion is focused on the final verses in 2 Corinthians 7. The verses continue with Paul being encouraged by the Corinthian church’s transformation. Join me as we finish chapter seven.
Bible Verse – 2 Corinthians 7:11-16 NLT
“11 Just see what this godly sorrow produced in you! Such earnestness, such concern to clear yourselves, such indignation, such alarm, such longing to see me, such zeal, and such a readiness to punish wrong. You showed that you have done everything necessary to make things right. 12 My purpose, then, was not to write about who did the wrong or who was wronged. I wrote to you so that in the sight of God you could see for yourselves how loyal you are to us. 13 We have been greatly encouraged by this.
In addition to our own encouragement, we were especially delighted to see how happy Titus was about the way all of you welcomed him and set his mind[a] at ease. 14 I had told him how proud I was of you—and you didn’t disappoint me. I have always told you the truth, and now my boasting to Titus has also proved true! 15 Now he cares for you more than ever when he remembers the way all of you obeyed him and welcomed him with such fear and deep respect. 16 I am very happy now because I have complete confidence in you.”
Reflection
Many people have spent years waiting for someone to change. I’ve had opportunities to pray with and hear mothers in prayer for their children, their finances and marriages. I’ve seen prayer warriors fervently standing in prayer on behalf of others, calling out to the Lord for a person or situation to change. I believe these verses are a reminder for us to never give up on praying for people and situations to change. We know without a doubt that God can change anyone’s heart. Let us continue to encourage one another in word, deed and prayer. Ask God to continue to work on that friend, that spouse, that child(ren), that boss, that co-worker, and unbelievers to find Christ and change.
Don’t give up waiting. Keep praying for transformation. God can change anything.
Prayer
Father God, thank you for your word. Lord, thank you for insight to see that You were at work in the lives of the Corinthian people. Even while Paul continued to pursue them with the truth of your word you used him to wake up your children and you transformed the people. Lord, only you can complete such intimate work and transformation. Lord, thank you for allowing us to be vessels to share your word, teachings and promises to those who need to hear from you. Lord, you are the Alpha and Omega. As you continue to work in us and transform us, help us to encourage our sisters and brothers in the faith. Help us to stand in the gap in prayer for transformation of our loved ones and those who don’t know Christ intimately. Father, we pray for children (young and adult) to come to know you and surrender their lives to you. We pray for their transformation into godly males and females who pursue you and the things of you with passion and diligence. Father, we pray over financial struggles and ask that you provide for every financial need. We pray for the homeless and ask that you begin to turn their situations around. Father God, transform us spiritually, mentally, physically and emotionally to who you have designed us to be. Keep working in us and while we wait for others to be transformed, soften our hearts and humble our spirits to watch you work out all the details. Lord, we pray for the mother who is ill and may need amputation. Lord, we pray for her body to heal and for blood circulation to be restored in her legs, feet and throughout her body. Lord, we pray for the woman experiencing medical related fatigue. Lord, we pray for her test results and the physician to prepare a good plan of action. Lord, we continue our prayers for those who are not well or a struggling with chronic illnesses and we ask for them to have some relief from pain. Lord, continue to strengthen and heal us daily. Reduce high blood pressure. Stabilize blood glucose levels. Balance hormones. Eliminate excess headaches and migraines. Continue to encourage those on weight loss journeys.
In the name of Jesus Christ we ask all these things, amen.
