Wisdom – Insight

Happy Thursday! Today, we will revisit our reading in 1 Corinthians chapter 12, verses 7-11 on spiritual gifts. In these verses, Paul mentioned nine spiritual gifts. Join me as we uncover the gift of wisdom and how it is seen as a gift.

Bible Verse 1 Corinthians 12:7-11 NLT

A spiritual gift is given to each of us so we can help each other. To one person the Spirit gives the ability to give wise advice[b]; to another the same Spirit gives a message of special knowledge.[c] The same Spirit gives great faith to another, and to someone else the one Spirit gives the gift of healing. 10 He gives one person the power to perform miracles, and another the ability to prophesy. He gives someone else the ability to discern whether a message is from the Spirit of God or from another spirit. Still another person is given the ability to speak in unknown languages,[d] while another is given the ability to interpret what is being said. 11 It is the one and only Spirit who distributes all these gifts. He alone decides which gift each person should have.”

Reflection

While reading notes from my spiritual gifts assessment, the gift of the Word of Wisdom is explained, “The gift of the word of wisdom is the divine strength or ability to have wisdom about situations and how to apply the truths of Scripture in a practical way, producing the fruitful outcome and character of Jesus Christ. Refer to Acts 6:3, 10; 1 Cor. 2:6-13; 1 Cor. 12:8”

The gift of wisdom refers to insight into truth (Biblical truth). Paul’s intentions throughout the book of 1 Corinthians was to ensure a believer’s faith would not rest on man’s wisdom, but on the power of God.

Sisters and brothers, we need to understand that our wisdom and wisdom of our friends is limited to the source in which the information comes from. However, when we tap into the source of the Living God all power, wisdom and knowledge can be revealed. It is through God’s power that we gain wisdom that will last. Remember our faith should rest on the power of the all knowing God.

Prayer

Father God, thank you for today. Thank you for the love that you give so freely. Lord, forgive us for the times when we sought out wisdom from other sources before we consulted with you and your word. Lord, we want to understand your Biblical truth. Lord, we want to grab a hold of the gift of wisdom and begin to use it daily. Lord, pour out the gift of wisdom upon us, so that we can make sound decisions that are aligned to your will for our lives. Lord, remind us to use the gift of wisdom on our jobs, in our home, at our schools, in our communities and anywhere else that you place us.

Lord replenish us with your love and compassion so that we will reach those who are broken, lost and struggling physically or emotionally. Lord, heal the sick and those who are suffering from depression. Lord, we pray for those who are battling cancer and we ask for relief from pain, strength to continue to fight and heal from the cancer treatments, prayers for the man who has been hospitalized with fluid on his heart and in his lungs. Lord, clear the fluid and heal him. Lord, be with the family whose husband/father who has been placed on hospice care. Lord, comfort them as they prepare for his transition from this earthly world to a home with you. Lord, touch their bodies in the way that only you can. Lord, comfort those who are preparing for and recovering from surgery and give them peace. Lord, thank you for all that you do. Lord, God give us strength and peace as we navigate this day. Give us your wisdom and discernment as we make decisions. Lord, bless those who are seeking employment. Lord, open doors no man can shut and touch their finances to address every financial need they have. Lord, we pray for marriages to be healed and restored. We pray for family relationships to be repaired and healed. We pray for your Holy Spirit to settle in our homes and fill them with peace.

Lord, we love you. Continue your work within us. In Jesus name, amen.

Keep praying! Keep Trusting! Keep believing!
