For Those Who Love Him

Good morning! May God continue to mature our understanding of who He is. Join me as we continue our reading in 1 Corinthians chapter 2.

Bible Verse – 1 Corinthians 2:6-12 NLT

Yet when I am among mature believers, I do speak with words of wisdom, but not the kind of wisdom that belongs to this world or to the rulers of this world, who are soon forgotten. No, the wisdom we speak of is the mystery of God[c]—his plan that was previously hidden, even though he made it for our ultimate glory before the world began. But the rulers of this world have not understood it; if they had, they would not have crucified our glorious Lord. That is what the Scriptures mean when they say,

“No eye has seen, no ear has heard,
    and no mind has imagined
what God has prepared
    for those who love him.”[d]”

10 But[e] it was to us that God revealed these things by his Spirit. For his Spirit searches out everything and shows us God’s deep secrets. 11 No one can know a person’s thoughts except that person’s own spirit, and no one can know God’s thoughts except God’s own Spirit. 12 And we have received God’s Spirit (not the world’s spirit), so we can know the wonderful things God has freely given us.”

Reflection

Paul wanted the readers to understand that there is wisdom taught by the Holy Spirit. Those who were mature in the faith understood this, but Paul desired for everyone to understand. In Matthew chapter 11:25, Jesus said, “At that time Jesus prayed this prayer: “O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, thank you for hiding these things from those who think themselves wise and clever, and for revealing them to the childlike.” This is what Paul refers to as God’s secret wisdom – the plan of salvation intended for our glory, determined before time began (Ephesians 1:4).

The blessings of salvation as Ephesians 1:3-14 is summarized and described as being prepared by the Father, carried out by the Son, and applied by the Spirit to all believers because of God’s love. The only way the Corinthians and anyone else could know this is by the Spirit who knows and reveals these things about God and salvation.

Sisters and brothers, there are still people who do not know God and/or do not fully understand the truth of Salvation through Jesus Christ. There is still a lot of work to be done. Will you share what the Holy Spirit has revealed to you through God’s word? Will you share the gospel message with others – there are lives in need of the truth?

Prayer

Father God, we thank you for sending your son Jesus Christ to save us. We thank you for the Holy Spirit that guides and helps us. Lord, continue to reveal to us the things we need to know and understand about you and your word. Lord, don’t let us be blindly led by those who don’t know you or profess to know you but don’t follow you. Lord, equip us to stand firm in your truth. Help us to not lean on our own understanding, direct our steps and actions, and strengthen us to fully surrender our will to you. Lord, we want to see you as victorious in our lives. So Lord, when the enemy plants doubt, fear, anger, and disbelief in our minds, Lord course correct our thoughts and increase your truth, your wisdom, your victory, your patience, your peace, and your authority over everything.

Lord, we pray for those under spiritual attack and we ask that you place your armor around them so that they can stand firm in your power. Lord, make away for those who are struggling financially. Lord, heal those who are sick and or suffering with pain. Lord, give hope to those who are feeling hopeless, depressed, or alone. Cover our families today and protect them from those who try to bring harm to them. Lord, let your peace reign today. May your peace rest on those who are preparing for surgery. May your peace rest on those who are going to work or school today. May your peace rest on those who are going to court to face charges. May your peace rest on those families who are praying for their loved ones. Lord, have your way in our lives as we trust you with the possible and the impossible. In Jesus name, Amen.
