Good morning! Last week, we read about Jesus healing a man on the Sabbath and how it angered the Pharisees so much that they began to plot how to kill him. The sad thing about life is that there may be wicked, jealous or broken people plotting against us, but the greatest victory for a believer is that Jesus – our only hope, reigns victorious. That even when the plotters appear to have succeeded the Lord reigns with hope and victory – He has our back.
Enjoy today’s devotion as we continue in Matthew chapter 12. Have a good day.
Bible Verse – Matthew 12:15-21 NLT
“15 But Jesus knew what they were planning. So he left that area, and many people followed him. He healed all the sick among them, 16 but he warned them not to reveal who he was. 17 This fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah concerning him:
18 “Look at my Servant, whom I have chosen. He is my Beloved, who pleases me.
I will put my Spirit upon him, and he will proclaim justice to the nations. 19 He will not fight or shout or raise his voice in public. 20 He will not crush the weakest reed or put out a flickering candle.
Finally he will cause justice to be victorious. 21 And his name will be the hope of all the world.” [Isaiah 42:1-4]”
REFLECTION
God chose his only son Jesus to save us. Even though the wicked were plotting against Jesus, Jesus remained focused on the mission. He knew why he was sent, He knew what was ahead, yet He remained focused on God’s will. He left the area and went on to heal the sick and set the captives free. The prophecy of Isaiah 42:1:-4 was fulfilled.
Brothers and sisters, we have many things thrown at us over a course of a day. Given that those situations may be out of our control, let us seek the Lord so that we can remain focused on His plan for us, while He:
- strengthens and keeps us until his return
- gives us wisdom and discernment to address a problem/situation
make sure that you put on the full armor of God, before entering conflict (Ephesians 6:10-18).
Do not forget to share the good news of the gospel message. And rejoice in knowing the living God, the Savior of the world, Jesus Christ. The One who has your back will never leave you or forsake you.
What do you need to remain on mission? _______
PRAYER
Father God, thank you for being so gracious to us. Thank you for your unfailing love. Lord, there is no one like you. Lord, forgive us for the times when we have sinned against you, turned away from you, or failed to share your love to others.
Lord, protect us from those who plot evil against us – Lord, dismantle their plans. Cover us with the fullness of your love and mercy. Give us wisdom to leave situations that are not where you desire for us to be. However, give us courage and a renewed since of peace if we are exactly where you need us to be to fulfill your will for our lives. Lord, forgive us of our sins (known and unknown). Lord, continue to heal and save us. Lord use us and lead our paths every day. In Jesus name, amen.
