No Longer Blind

Happy Friday! Yesterday, we read about Jesus power over death. Today, we continue our reading with Jesus overcoming darkness. May the Lord who knows you by name, speak to you and continue to share His love for you. Enjoy today’s devotion.

BIBLE VERSE – Matthew 9:27-31 NLT
“27 After Jesus left the girl’s home, two blind men followed along behind him, shouting, “Son of David, have mercy on us!”

28 They went right into the house where he was staying, and Jesus asked them, “Do you believe I can make you see?”
“Yes, Lord,” they told him, “we do.”

29 Then he touched their eyes and said, “Because of your faith, it will happen.” 30 Then their eyes were opened, and they could see! Jesus sternly warned them, “Don’t tell anyone about this.” 31 But instead, they went out and spread his fame all over the region.”

REFLECTION

This is another moment when Jesus, was pursued by someone (actually more than one person), because they heard about His power to heal and they wanted to be healed too. The blind men’s faith allowed them to be healed, “because of your faith, it will happen.”

Brothers and sisters, the faith that these men had changed their life. They were relentless in their pursuit of Jesus and in being healed. When was the last time you pursued Christ as they did?

While Jesus came to provide spiritual healing, He also provided physical healing. Do you need a physical or spiritual healing? The Lord, can heal you and make you whole. Will you put your faith in the Lord and pursue him as the blind men did for their healing?

PRAYER
Father God, thank you for sending your son Jesus to save us and spiritually heal us. Lord, you are perfect in all your ways. Lord, thank you for healing the sick, restoring sight to the blind (recovering us from darkness) and for making us whole in you. Lord, there are still many areas in our lives that require healing and you know exactly what they are and how it appeared as a symptom or chronic condition in our lives and how it impedes our ability to function as Christians. Lord, forgive us for not pursuing you faithfully. Lord, we ask you today to bind any condition, illness or disease from spreading as a bitter root in our hearts. Lord, we ask that you remove anything that keeps us from flourishing in the abundance of you. Lord, have mercy on us, heal us and make us whole. Lord, we don’t want to continue to walk around in despair wandering from one thing to the next in an attempt to spiritually heal ourselves. Lord, we need you, what we have tried on our own doesn’t work without you being in the center of it all. Lord, open our eyes, increase our faith and transform us to be more like you. In Jesus name, amen.
