They Will See and They Will Be Called

Photography by Mary E. White

It’s a new day, and God is still good. He is the One who can change our hearts and fill us with peace. No heart is too hard for God to soften. There is no chaos that is too loud or obnoxious for God to calm with His peace. May the Lord our God be with you today and throughout the rest of this week. Trust Him. Join me as we continue to explore the beatitudes.

BIBLE VERSE – Matthew 5:8-9NLT
“8 Blessed are the pure in heart,
for they will see God.
9 Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they will be called children of God.”

REFLECTION
Last week and earlier this week, we read about a hunger and thirst for righteousness and mercy. Each of those qualities require a heart surrendered to God, a heart that is clean from sin because of our faith in God and a heart that is continually repented. God knows our heart. Jeremiah 17 verses 9-10 (NIV) reads, “The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it? “ I the Lord search the heart and examine the mind, to reward each person according to their conduct, according to what their deeds deserve.”

When our heart is surrendered (obedient) to God and the things that pleases him, He faithfully extends His peace. It is a peace that comforts us when things are beyond our control. It’s a peace that says come to me daughter, come to me son and rest, I know how to take care of you and I will.  It’s the same peace that brings calmness into a room and everyone recognizes peace when they see it…sometimes saying “I want what they have” or “why are you so calm?”. God desires for us to have peace and for us to be peace in the world.

Let us seek peace today…let us seek God so that he can pour out peace in us. Paul wrote it best in Philippians 4:5-7 NIV, “5 Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. 6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

PRAYER
Father God, thank you for another day to draw nearer to you. Thank you for your love toward us and your willingness to change our hearts and give us peace. Lord, we repent of our sins today. Lord, forgive us of our sins and make us right before you. Lord, clean our hearts and change us so that we may bring glory to your name. Lord, we want to be right in your eyes. Cover us with your goodness and mercy. Teach us how to share your love. Lord, grant us peace that overflows. Remove all anxiousness and fear, and surround us with your everlasting love and peace. Lord, work in us and change our qualities to present the beautiful attitudes of the Beatitudes to a lost world. Lord, we continue our prayers for the sick, those grieving, the lost, the hungry and those living in fear. Lord, touch them and make them whole in every area that is lacking. Lord, remind them of who you are and your faithfulness. Lord, be with those who are traveling and keep them safe. In Jesus name, amen.
