God’s Grace

Good morning! This is the final Monday before the new year. A lot has happened since January 1, 2024, but the Lord kept us. Praise God, that Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Join me as we continue our reading in Hebrews chapter thirteen.

Bible Verse – Hebrews 13:7-9 NLT

“7 Remember your leaders who taught you the word of God. Think of all the good that has come from their lives, and follow the example of their faith.

8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. 9 So do not be attracted by strange, new ideas. Your strength comes from God’s grace, not from rules about food, which don’t help those who follow them.”

Reflection

In Hebrews chapter eleven we read about faithful followers of Christ. We learned a little about their backgrounds and acknowledged the difficulties they encountered while here on earth. What remained consistent was their relationship with God. As we think on the leaders and individuals in our lives who introduced us to the faith in God and the saving grace of Jesus Christ, let us also remember the good that came from their lives and live by faith.

Are you ready?

Prayer

Father God, we thank you for your love and mercy in our lives. We thank you for Jesus Christ who came so that we can be reconciled to you. Lord, forgive us for the times we did not follow you or chose not to trust you. Lord, we yearn to draw closer to you and be transformed by you every day of our lives. Lord, direct our steps and strength our hearts as we conclude this year. Lord, it hasn’t been an easy year for many people, but Lord we know that you have been and you are with us. Thank you for loving us when we weren’t able to love ourselves. Thank you for sustaining us when we didn’t know how we were going to get through some days. Thank you for protecting us when the enemy was prowling around for opportunities to destroy our mind, families, and finances – Lord, you stood in the gap and redeemed us and made us whole.  Lord, we stand in awe of the grace and strength that you provide alone. You have given us your word and promises that are true and greater than any man-made rules that try to add weight or division to religious practices. You alone are God. You alone are the one who saves and redeems. You alone – God, came to our rescue and you continue to pour out grace, peace, comfort, strength, joy, healing, wholeness, restoration, and renewal. Lord, we look to you. Carry us through this day and through the last days of this year. In Jesus name, amen.
