Good morning! Enjoy today’s reading and prayer.
Bible Verse – 1 John 2:18-24 NLT
“18 Dear children, the last hour is here. You have heard that the Antichrist is coming, and already many such antichrists have appeared. From this we know that the last hour has come. 19 These people left our churches, but they never really belonged with us; otherwise they would have stayed with us. When they left, it proved that they did not belong with us.
20 But you are not like that, for the Holy One has given you his Spirit,[e] and all of you know the truth. 21 So I am writing to you not because you don’t know the truth but because you know the difference between truth and lies. 22 And who is a liar? Anyone who says that Jesus is not the Christ.[f] Anyone who denies the Father and the Son is an antichrist.[g] 23 Anyone who denies the Son doesn’t have the Father, either. But anyone who acknowledges the Son has the Father also.
24 So you must remain faithful to what you have been taught from the beginning. If you do, you will remain in fellowship with the Son and with the Father. 25 And in this fellowship we enjoy the eternal life he promised us.”
Reflection
The author was focused on letting the reader know the difference between truth and lies.
Remember in this context a liar is:
- Anyone who says that Jesus is not the Christ.
- Anyone who denies the Father and the Son is an antichrist.
- Anyone who denies the Son doesn’t have the Father, either.
The author gives us hope by sharing truth if we remain faithful and in fellowship:
- anyone who acknowledges the Son has the Father also
- remain faithful to what you have been taught from the beginning
- remain in fellowship with the Son and with the Father
- in this fellowship we enjoy the eternal life he promised us
Prayer
Father God, we thank you for sending your son Jesus Christ to save us. Lord, we believe that you are God the Father and that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. Lord, thank you for being so faithful to us. Thank you for loving us unconditionally and for forgiving us of our past. Lord, the world and its’ tendencies often try to pull us away from you and your truth, but there is no other place we would rather be than with you. Lord, help us to remain faithful to the gospel truth. Help us to remain in fellowship with You – God the Father and Jesus Christ the Son. Lord, we want to enjoy fellowship and the promise of eternal life.
Lord, help us to remain steadfast in prayer and in truth. Help us to live out this truth in our lives. Help us to live in the hope that you have promised. Lord, lead us today and help us to grow in spiritual maturity and in faith. Lord, when others see us – let them see you.
Lord, continue to heal those who are in need of your healing power. Touch their bodies and make them whole. Lord, we pray for those who are struggling with stress, anxiety, and depression, and we ask that you encourage them and free them of those emotional weights. Fill them with your Holy Spirit in every area of their body where those emotions exist.
In Jesus name, amen.
